Coffee with the Superintendent
East China School District Superintendent Suzanne Cybulla invites East China parents, guardians, and community members for coffee and informal conversation as follows:
These informal coffees offer school families and community members the opportunity to ask questions, offer input and learn more about the school district in a small group setting.
Middle School Leaders
On August 20, 2019, St. Clair Middle School students worked alongside Marine City Middle School students at the annual MASC/MAHS Student Leadership Seminar held at MCMS. Nearly 100 students participated in total. These students, under the direction of Matt Alley, MASC/MAHS Director of Student Services, and student leaders from various universities, performed a variety of leadership activities, worked on their communication skills, teamwork, positive relationship building, and how to create and promote a positive atmosphere and culture. These "leaders of tomorrow" had a blast working together, fine tuning their leadership skills as a whole and should be commended for their efforts.

SCMS Staff Spotlight
This weeks Staff Spotlight is St. Clair Middle School teacher, Hanna Marginean. Mrs. Marginean has been in teaching for 25 years and currently teaches 6th grade Writing at SCMS. Previous to her experience at SCMS, Mrs. Marginean taught at Marine City Middle School and has taught Science, ELA and several Exploratory classes. She has also been the Adviser for the Science Olympiad Team at MCMS and was also a co-adviser for the SCMS Student Council.
Mrs. Marginean became a teacher because she has always loved working with kids. She started out working at a day care while in high school and immediately fell in love with the profession. She had many amazing teachers during her lifetime, one in particular was her middle school principal, who was also her high school teacher and high school counselor. He was always a very positive presence throughout her school years and beyond. The most rewarding part of teaching has been making connections with the kids. She recently ran into a former student that had been in her class 18 years ago. She loves hearing about her past student's memories of when she was their teacher. Also, it's a reminder to her about the kind of impact she has on someone's life even though she may not realize it at the time.
When Mrs. Marginean is not teaching, she loves spending time with her family and friends. She attempts to stay fit and is always looking for new ways to make fitness fun. She has two children of her own, ages 23 and 21, and they keep her life interesting. Overall, Mrs. Marginean is very thankful to be a part of the East China School District for more than 20 years. She says that, "I believe the East China School District is an amazing family to be a part of, and I appreciate the opportunity to serve the community."
