THURSDAY, OCTOBER 17- ALL DAY!

The Cows and GALATAS ELEMENTARY would like to invite you to support them with a Chick-fil-A Spirit Night at your local Chick-fil-A Alden Bridge. By mentioning "GALATAS" (you must mention Galatas in order for the school to receive the credit) when you place your order, either in-store or in the drive-thru, the school will receive 20% of all sales brought in during this Spirit Night.

The Spinning Wheel will run from 5:00-7:00 p.m. inside the restaurant!

Any food purchased throughout the day, if you mention GALATAS, will also be credited towards the our school's sales!

YEARBOOK COVER CONTEST

Students will have a chance to help us create the cover of this year’s Galatas yearbook! The theme this year will be “U.S.S. Springetti”! Some ideas could include ocean voyage, sea and undersea adventures, cruise ships, marine life, beaches, islands, etc...

Guidelines:

**Entries should be original student artwork, and may be done with marker, pastels, paint,

watercolors, etc…

**Maximum size should be 8.5”X11” and must be a portrait (vertical) layout.

**Artwork should feature a Greyhound!

**Artist’s name and section number should be on the back of the artwork.

**No need to include our school name or the year...those will be printed on the yearbook by the publisher.

**All submissions must be received by Friday, November 1.

Please contact galatasyearbook@gmail.com with any questions.

LOST AND FOUND

Please have your students check for any lost items (shirts, sweaters, water bottles, hair bows, lunch boxes, etc...) on the Lost and Found rack, located in the Cafeteria. Parents may stop by to check the Lost and Found during Lunch times or before 8:00 a.m.

Please remember to label all items that students bring to school. If an item has a name in it, it is returned to the student’s classroom.

The last day to check for lost items will be Monday, October 21. Any unclaimed, unlabeled items still in Lost and Found on Tuesday, October 22, will be donated.

BoxTops for Education

It's time to turn in your Box Tops! Our first BoxTops collection date will be October 25, and students will turn them in to their teachers. The grade level with the most BoxTops will be named the BoxTops Champion. The winning grade level with the most BoxTops will earn treats for their teachers, and one class will win the Grand Prize!

Nominations for Gifted and Talented Testing

Nominations are now open for the Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until February, nominations are open at this time. Nominations can be made by parents and/or teachers. It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child, because CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. If you are interested in nominating your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher at conferences. Nominations will be accepted through December 18.

You may request a nomination form from the Assistant Principal, Candace Mathis (cdmathis@conroeisd.net). You may also find the form, as well as other information on the program here .

Galatas Gifted and Talented Parent Information Session

If you are interested in learning about the Conroe ISD Gifted and Talented nomination process, please join the Galatas Administration Team for an informational meeting on Wednesday, October 23 at 10:00 a.m. in the Activity Room.
