Celebrate Education Week
We invite you to join us during Celebrate Education Week from October 12th - 16th. We ask that you remember that your presence in the classroom can change the instructional dynamic. Please try to remain as "invisible" as possible. A couple of other reminders:
- Please turn off cell phones upon entering the school.
- If at all possible we discourage bringing siblings into the classroom.
- You will need to sign-in at the office. When the visitation time is over we ask you leave the classroom quietly and sign-out before exiting the building.

Libraries Clean Up When You Clean Out
Are your bookshelves at home overflowing? Do your kids' rooms contain many books they've already read? If so, we have a way to help. Gayman teachers are accepting book donations from Monday, October 5th - Friday, October 16th in the old office. These books will be used to supplement classroom library collections throughout our school. Not only will this help "clean up" our heavily used classroom libraries, but it will also help you "clean out!" If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Bullard at email@example.com.
Race For Education - October 23rd
The 7th annual Race For Education Event is fast approaching. It will be held on Friday, October 23rd, 2015. We are in need of many volunteers to help ensure a fun filled & successful day for the school. Volunteers do not need to have their official clearances since it is considered a supervised event. Please see below the link for the sign up genius.
We appreciate your continued support in Gayman's primary fundraising event!
The RFE Committee
Cheep, Cheep, Cheep!!
Something exciting was hatching in 3rd grade again this week! As part of the science curriculum, 3rd graders had a special presentation on eggs, chicks and chicken life cycles from Mrs. Rush from the Penn State Cooperative Extension. Each third grade class was able to observe seven chicken eggs in an incubator for a couple of days before they hatched this Monday. The students got to hold and care for the chicks all week, and even had some visitors from other grades, too. It has been an "egg-stra" special learning experience for all involved and it was hard to say good-bye to our feathered friends this morning.

Great Job Students
This week Gayman conducted our second safety drill of the school year. The simulation began like a normal fire drill. Students were then directed to walk to our established alternate evacuation site, Tohickon Middle School.
I am pleased to report that our simulation went very well. Our teachers reported to me that the children followed our directions with precision. The class lines and waiting areas at Tohickon were quiet and orderly. Attendance was taken and all children were accounted for prior to our return to school at 10:00 AM. The Tohickon staff commented on the “remarkable” politeness and orderliness of their nearly 460 guests. Today’s exercise confirmed my confidence in our children and teachers and filled me with pride.
Save The Children Fund - Wear A Hat for a $1.00
In conjunction with the RFE on Friday, October 23rd, we are requesting students wear a hat for a $1.00 to benefit the Save The Children Fund.
Save The Children Fund, commonly known as Save the Children, is an international non-government organization that promotes children's rights, provides relief and helps support children in the United States and around the world.
Save The Children invests in childhood - every day, in times of crisis and for their future. The organization provides children with a healthy start, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. By transforming children's lives now, we can change the course of their future and ours.
