A Message from the Principal
Greetings St. Anthony Catholic High School Community!
We had a wonderful week at our school that God is building every day. We kicked off last week with a visit from A&M afterschool and had a cafeteria filled with very interested Yellow Jackets. We got through PSAT/SAT day on Wednesday. Mrs Rosie Cortez, Director of Mission and Ministry and Dr. Christopher Samuel were recognized on Thursday night at the Women's Global Connection Gala for their contributions in Tanzania with the Rain Water Harvester Program (see picture below). Our football team had a tough loss 26-21 on Friday night in Houston but had a large fan fare with many parents who attended the game to keep them going (see picture below). And, today our Cross Country did exceptionally well in the St. Mary's University 5K with the top winners from our school. Armando Martinez won 1st place and had the best overall men's results and Marisela Martinez came in 1st place for women's results (see picture below). We thank God for all the blessings given to our students, staff, families and community!
Homecoming week kicks off tomorrow with a college day theme so all students and staff can wear any college shirt with jeans. Tickets go on sale for homecoming dance and football game beginning tomorrow and throughout the week. Homecoming dance tickets are $15. Hallway decorating will also begin tomorrow afterschool until 6:00pm. The hallway contest judging will take place Friday morning. See the schedule below for all the exciting events and themes taking place this week. Thank you parents for your support, time, energy and dedication to making this week so special for your children!
We will have a pep rally this Friday for Homecoming. We will also have a special Halloween pep rally next Friday, October 27 if you would like to join us at 2:15pm in the gym. And our final pep rally for this semester will be for the State Softball Champion ring ceremony for the girls from last year on Friday, December 15.
Our senior, Portland Tidwell recently won the title of Miss Bexar County recently. Portland won the Miss Bexar County 2018 title which will take her to the Miss Texas competition and possibly Miss America. Portland is a direct partner with the San Antonio 100 Club which has a goal to deliver funds to a family within 24 to 48 hours of their loss in order to help with any immediate expenses that will most undoubtedly arise upon the unexpected death of their loved one. We are proud that she is representing this great cause and St. Anthony Catholic High School (see picture below).
The PSAT and SAT scores from the test taken this past Wednesday should be in during the month of December. We will have a special parent night to discuss the results and help you better understand how we can move forward in applying for college with the results.
We had our first middle tour on Friday hosting St. John Berchman's (see picture below). We have 13 more middle school tours this month. We are having our Middle School Open House Night on Wednesday, November 8 from 5pm-7pm so we would love to have you join us. We will send out more information soon. We also have 15 students who wrote essays on what they loved most about SACHS and why they should be selected to be a SACHS Leader Ambassador to help recruit students. These were the most enjoyable essays to read and I look forward to working with these students.
Report cards go out on Friday. Please make sure your students attend tutoring this week and get every assignment submitted. If they need assistance, make sure to contact their teacher. We want to work with every child to ensure they have a successful future especially on their transcript which is permanent. Our goal is to get every kid to and through college which starts every day at SACHS.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the path of bright lights You are building at St. Anthony Catholic School. We feel You each day as You move us through the day. We continue to ask for Your wisdom and grace to lead us and move us to where You have planned for us to be. We know You are good in all Your ways. Bless each beautiful child You created and sent to us to teach, bless their homes and bless their hearts for they need You in these special years. In Jesus Name, Amen.
"How great you are, O Sovereign Lord." 2 Samuel 7:22
May your life be blessed!
