A Memo from Mrs. Doss
Spring also brings our State Assessment, the MAP test (Missouri Assessment Program). I will include some tips for helping your student feel prepared and ready to tackle the day. The tips below have been taken from the Dept of Elementary and Secondary website.
Approach this as any other day, in case this test is something that would make your student nervous. They have prepared all year, and this is something they are ready to rock! I will include a link to the site for parents as well with other resources.
How can I help my child perform well on the MAP assessment?
What can a parent or guardian do to help on test day?
- Be aware of the testing schedule.
- Be certain that your child has had adequate rest (this may mean getting them used to an earlier bed time before the week of testing).
- Be on time for school.
- Avoid scheduling appointments that can be made at a later date.
- Dress your child in layered clothing. This way, the child may add clothing to get warmer or remove some clothing to be cooler.
- Have a positive attitude about testing.

Other events coming up soon, will be our Field Day for all students. We will also celebrate our fifth graders, as they transition and are promoted to Middle School. Lastly, we have decided to hold another fun family event at GBE. Our "Spring Fling". This will be similar to the "Back to School Bash".
More details regarding these events, and others will be coming out in your student's newsletters from teachers. Thank you for all you do and support you give us as partners in your child's education. We love our parents being a part of our days at school, and helping each of our students be a Champion in all they do!
Warmly,
Angie Doss

Additional Parent and Family Information:
If you remember from last month our students had the following challenge given:
The classrooms this month with the highest percentage of students meeting their Reading Counts Goal will be the room that Mr. Samuel hast to camp out in overnight!
IF GBE as a whole building hits 3.000 Reading Counts points for the month, Mrs. Doss will wear roller skates an entire school day!!
The results for the overall building was surpassed by our students. I will be wearing roller skates this week for one entire day!
We are still tabulating the results for our highest classroom percentage. Mr. Samuel will camp out in this room, once these are figured.
Exciting Times!!!
