RESULTS FROM THE 2019 WISD BATTLE OF THE BOOKS
9:00 AM Friday, March 22nd at the WHS Library
The 4th annual WISD Battle of the Books was held on Friday, March 22nd in the WHS Library. Tison took a total of 28 students (six teams) to the event. Since the fall, these students worked within their teams to read a combination of 10 books which they would be quizzed on the day of the tournament.
For the first time ever in the history of this event, a team from Tison WON FIRST PLACE!! We also had one team tie for 2nd place as well as another place 4th! Overall, the Tison kiddos represented their school extremely well!
All of the students who participated truly worked hard all year to read all ten books chosen for this year's tournament and many teams chose to give up time during lunch and after school to quiz each other over the books. I saw a LOT of dedication in the last few weeks!
1st Place – “Lit Fam Squad” (6th Grade)
Dylan Hightower, Eli Saldivar, Clarke Vinson, Bryden Aldava, Vincent Rivas
2nd Place – “Tison Tales” (7th Grade)
Sydney Patton, Sarah Talmadge, Trinity Pfeil, Jade Bielstein, Maryn Milligan
4th Place – “Book Fairies” (8th Grade)
Rylee Esmond, Gabi Garcia, Sydney Nelson
Other Tison Teams:
“Bibliomaniacs” – 7th grade
Christian Walters, Matilyn Piearce, Madolyn Ballard, Chloe Gaines, Jocelyn Foster, Emma Melven
“Goofy Goobers” – 6th Grade

“Party of Smarties” – 6th Grade

Thanks to the ELA teachers who helped with the teams (especially Lisa Durant and Erin Light)!! Also a special thanks to Amanda Lanicek for helping to judge at the tournament this morning!!
