ST JAMES’ CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL
JUNE NEWSLETTER 2023
MESSAGE FROM THE HEADTEACHER
As we continue apace towards the end of the school year, our newsletter gives us the chance to pause and reflect on some of the wonderful opportunities afforded to, and the achievements of, our pupils here at St James’.
We also said goodbye to both our Year 11 and 13 cohorts, who I know were more than ready for a well-deserved and extended summer break. Well done to all of you.
Do enjoy reading this month’s publication.

Gaelic Hertfordshire Competition
Last weekend we saw over 660 children from across the clubs and schools in Hertfordshire come to Harpenden Rugby Club to participate in the 1st Annual All Hertfordshire Competition!
On the 15th of June, our pupils won their age division (Years 7-8) as they went up against Arnold Academy.
This was an opportunity for our pupils to gain a new experience as they were playing in a different environment as well as going up against schools they have never competed against.
Congratulations!

Janita and Constance explain to us what it means to act with integrity.
Trust
At St James' we pride ourselves on the trust that we have built amongst the members of our community, staff and students alike.
Trust is an important part of being in a community with others.
'To me, trust means an invisible bond between all members of the school community." ~ Niall
Aspiration
"Aspirations are important because it provides us with the drive to improve our skills, achieve our goals and better ourselves." - Aoife
All of us have aspirations, whether they are big or small! These can be drivers for us to better ourselves and do more and be better than we were yesterday.
John and Aoife share what aspiration means to them. What does aspiration mean to you?
Service
"Service means doing something more than just thinking about ourselves. It's giving our time, knowledge and more to others." - Patryk
Being in service to others is an important part of our Catholic faith, it helps us to think beyond ourselves and about the communities we inhabit.
