Michael Jordan


Michael Jordan was born on February 17, 1963, in Brooklyn, New York. He was the fourth of five children born to James and Deloris Jordan. Jordan always showed an interest in sports, as a junior in college at North Carolina University he dropped out and joined the NBA. He has been married twice and has five children.

-ESPN has named Jordan as the greatest North American athlete of the 20th century.
-Jordan also holds five Most Valuable Player (MVP) Awards.
-He has starred in the 1996 feature film Space Jam, portraying himself.
-According to NBA website, Jordan is "the greatest basketball player of all time."

  • A pair of Nike's that were one of the earliest of Jordan, fetched over $71K at an auction.
  • He has appeared in more then 20 commercials for Gatorade.
  • Jordan has also bagged awards like 'Defensive Player of the Year' and 'Rookie of the Year.

Impact on Society

Michael Jordan influenced society by allowing people to look up to and respect a Black NBA player. He was the first NBA African American player to influence others and allow them to be accented into the sports industry.
