Principal's Report
It has been a busy, but successful first month of school. The transition back to school routines and structures for a very long school day can be a challenge. Hopefully, your child is beginning to find their footing. If for some reason your child needs any support, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
At the start of every school year, we practice safety procedures to ensure our students are safe while at school. It is a state requirement to conduct five lockdown drills, five fire drills and one severe weather drill per year. Along with these drills we continuously look at our arrival and dismissal procedures. Please follow our procedures for both student drop-off and pick-up to ensure a safe and efficient start and end to each school day.
Lastly, thank you for your incredible support of our Walk-a-Thon fundraiser. The support we get from our community both through monetary donations and volunteering goes a long way in providing our Coyotes the educational experience we want for them. We could not have asked for better weather to conclude our Walk-a-Thon, with an enjoyable Family Fun Night. This event has such an amazing “small town” community feel to it… Which is basically what Andover Elementary is all about.
Complete back to school verification, now.
Back to school verification is now available online. It’s important that each family completes the verification process before the first day of school. Verification ensures that Anoka-Hennepin Schools has confirmed contact information for each student to ensure schools have access to emergency contact information and information releases for the safety of students.
Families may complete the verification on their own time, wherever it’s convenient. Even if families’ contact information has not changed, it’s important to log in to access a variety of other student information in the coming weeks, including class schedules and teacher assignments, attendance, school handbooks, progress reports and grades for middle and high school students. High school students will not be able to enroll in fall activities until the back to school form process is complete.
New this year, free school meals will no longer be available to all students. By logging in to complete student verification for the upcoming school year, families may also apply to receive free and reduced priced meals after completing the verification process.
Login to A-HConnect to complete back to school forms for the upcoming school year.

APTCO News
Sending a huge thank you to our AMAZING Coyote families and to all who participated in collecting donations for Walk-a-Thon! Because of your generosity, we currently raised over $32,000! Some late donations are still coming in so the grand total will be announced at our upcoming APTCO meeting.
We would also like to thank all our wonderful volunteers who helped students run the obstacle course during the day and those who helped at our Family Fun Night event that evening. It was a perfect night to celebrate the success of our fundraiser. And thank you to the food trucks: White Rabbit, Eckbom Concessions, Mama’s Taco Truck, Sweet Toppings, and Maui Wowi Hawaiian Smoothies, for feeding all our hungry Coyotes and their families!
Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, October 13th at 6:30pm in the South Media Center (please enter through door #1). We will be announcing the grand total of donations raised and recap our Walk-a-Thon fundraiser, discussing upcoming events, and as always, we will hear from Mr. Van Voorhis. We hope to see you there!
