A note from the Dryden Director of Bands...
I am incredibly excited and honored to share that your very own Dryden Bands are performing the national anthem for the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park on Saturday, April 8th for Opening Weekend! The junior high and high school bands will be combined to play on the field before the start of the game versus the Boston Red Sox. We have plenty of tickets at the generous price of only $26 and we would be so happy to see as many of our Cardinal Community as possible supporting our students! We must sell at least 100 tickets to make this happen so feel free to share this link to your friends and family. Follow the link below to purchase your tickets and come cheer us on in this special event!

Staff Spotlight: Mr. Kory Lohrmann
Mr. Lohrmann is a History/Government teacher, Director of Early College Programs, and Cross Country coach at Dryden Junior/Senior High School. He has a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education Social Studies and a Master of Arts in Political Science, and he is working on finishing a Ph.D. in Political Science with concentrations in Public Policy, Public Administration, and American Government and Politics all through Wayne State University.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, running, playing hockey, and playing music. He loves superheroes. His favorite superheroes are Spider-Man and Wolverine.
When asked about why he chose Dryden, he stated “I grew up in a town not far from here (Romeo). I love the small-town feel and the unique educational experiences that Dryden is able to offer because of its size. We really get to know our students and develop relationships that are meaningful. Students get more one-on-one attention, which makes for a better learning environment”.
His favorite thing about Dryden is the closeness and the small town atmosphere. Words of motivation he has for students is a quote which states, "To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift" - Steve Prefontaine.
Students Say...
We sent out a Google Form with three questions for all of the students in Dryden Junior/ Senior High School about their favorite thing about Mr. Lohrmann, their favorite memory with Mr. Lohrmann, and the most valuable lesson they learned from Mr. Lohrmann.
Logan Romain said that his favorite thing about Mr. Lohrmann is running. His favorite memory with Mr. Lohrmann is the “movement of legs (running)”. The most valuable thing he learned from Mr. Lohrmann is at cross country meets, when the students supposedly run faster than the expert coach.
Audrey Napolitano said that her favorite thing about Mr. Lohrmann is the advice he can give you regarding running, college classes, and training plans. She also stated that he is a very motivational and inspiring person, as a teacher and a coach who always strives to constantly be there for his students and athletes. Her favorite memories with Mr. Lohrmann are whenever there is an XC meet or a team run. The most valuable thing she learned from him is to recover and work hard, but not to work too hard to the point where you burn out, and he taught her to be an amazing leader and runner.
Lily Finnigan said that her favorite thing about Mr. Lohrmann is that he is a great coach who truly cares about all of his athletes. Her favorite memory with Mr. Lohrmann is when a group of cross-country athletes drove to Michigan International Speedway this past November for cross-country states. She stated that they did activities all weekend and had a lot of fun. She states "The most valuable thing I have learned from Mr. Lohrmann is a quote he says at cross country practices sometimes. It is "when you are not training, someone somewhere is training; and when you meet him, he will win". This goes for more than just running. The people who spend the most time practicing and perfecting whatever it is are the ones that are going to come out on top when it matters”.
Aiden Fitchett said that his favorite thing about Mr. Lohrmann is that he always wants what is best for you. His favorite memories with Mr. Lohrmann are when they do LSD (Long Slow Distance) runs as a team. The most valuable thing he learned from Mr. Lohrmann is to run fast.
An Anonymous student stated that their favorite thing about Mr. Lohrmann is, “There are many things that make Mr. Lohrmann the person he is, making it hard for me to pick just one favorite thing. Mr. Lohrmann has always been there for me when I needed someone by my side. He has always been kind and compassionate, pushing us to do our best in class. Firstly, Mr. Lohrmann is understanding. He understands the pains and struggles that our classes may bring to us and, because he has had experience with it, understands how we feel and cheers us up every time. Next, Mr. Lohrmann is a great speaker. Mr. Lohrmann makes information easy to understand and fun to learn with his hour-long speeches about something. Listening to these speeches has taught me a lot of information and I am overjoyed to have him as a teacher. Another thing that I like about Mr. Lohrmann is how kind he is. As I said before, he always finds a way to cheer me up when I am having a bad day. In the words of Mr. Lohrmann: "Bad days are only temporary. You have many more days ahead of you that you can make better. With that said, try your hardest and never give up." These words made me think and taught me to strive for excellence every day”. When asked what their favorite memory with Mr. Lohrmann was, they stated “I have many memories with Mr. Lohrmann and I cherish every one of them. One of my first memories with Mr. Lohrmann was when gave me the motivation I needed to do something that I had always wanted to do. He helped me find that I could do anything that I wanted if I tried my hardest and put effort in. This even helped me in school with my classes, making what he told me even more helpful. Another memory that I have of him is when he gave a speech in front of the class. Since that day, I have always wanted to be so confident in myself that I can one day do that as well as he did”. When asked what the most valuable thing they learned from Mr. Lohrmann was, they stated “The most valuable thing that Mr. Lohrmann has taught me is how to be confident in myself and my abilities. Without this skill that I have acquired from him, I would never be where I am today. Mr. Lohrmann truly is a kind and genuine person who makes everyone around him better. For those reasons, I look up to Mr. Lohrmann and strive to be a better person every day”.
An Anonymous student said that their favorite thing about Mr. Lohrmann is how kind he is, and how he has a supportive attitude. Their favorite memory with Mr. Lohrmann was at Cross Country Camp over the past summer. The most valuable thing Mr. Lohrmann taught them is to be yourself, and not let anyone else stop them from doing what they want because they might regret it in the future.
Thank you to Mr. Lohrmann and to all of the students who gave their feedback!
