A Message from Mrs. Hoke
Hello Panda Parents,
Today we conducted our first “Lockdown Drill”. Though we are not able to communicate in advance about these drills, we want you to understand the importance of them in our community. This type of drill will secure the school building and shelter all students, staff, and visitors inside the building. The purpose of this drill is to keep the students safe from any danger outside or inside the building. During a “lockdown drill” all classroom doors, hallway doors, and entry doors are locked and will remain locked until the danger or issue is removed. To enable everyone to remain safe, no one will be allowed to enter the building or leave the building until the authorities authorize such a release.
In addition to the Lockdown drills, we practice monthly fire drills. In the spring we will also practice a Severe Weather drill that will be scheduled in the month of March.
Please remember that these safety practice drills are done to help maintain a safe place to learn and work. Please be prepared to reassure your student about the importance of these drills this evening, as they may have questions from today’s drill.
If you have any questions regarding any of these Safety Drills or other safety concerns, please contact our school office at (919) 387 - 2136.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Hoke, Principal
Atentamente, Sra. Hoke, Directora

Penny Road Elementary's 2021 Giving Tree
We are collecting $40 Walmart gift cards until December 9th, 2021
Our school’s annual Giving Tree is looking different again this year, but we hope you will still find it in your hearts to help those in our school community who need additional support this holiday season. Our goal is to collect Walmart gift cards in $40 increments to be able to present families for their Penny Road students. If we are able to, we will then try to meet the needs of additional children in the home.
How does it work?
Digital gift cards may be purchased using Penny Road Giving Tree as the “Recipient's Name” and pregivingtree@gmail.com as the "Recipient's Email".
Digital gift cards will be printed by PTA for distribution to our families or you can print and deliver as stated above.
Gift cards may be sent to school with your child in an envelope marked “The Giving Tree”.
Gift cards will also be collected during both morning and afternoon carpools.
Gift cards will be distributed by our school’s counselor social worker in time for families to do some holiday shopping.
Have any questions, please email: PREGIVINGTREE@gmail.com
