Report Cards, Tutorials, Retentions and More...
As we enter the spring semester, please know we will be working diligently to close any gaps and prepare students for the next grade level. Please review your child's report card and contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions or concerns.
Despite COVID and previous school closures last year, we are still required have students in Kindergarten - 2nd grade reach certain reading levels. Meanwhile, students in 3rd-5th grade will also still take the state standardized assessment (STAAR) in May.
Students needing extra support may stay with teachers during their "office hours" or tutorials this semester. In some cases, we will also need to meet with parents of students who are at-risk of retention.
Let's continue to work hard together to make sure all of our Wildcats finish strong this school year!
Students Continuing with Virtual/Remote Learning
Face to Face Learners Starting on January 5th
Please read through these reminders for all face to face students:
- Parents must self-assess all students daily. If your child is experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms, has been exposed to someone with COVID-19 or is lab--confirmed for COVID-19, please call the District Student Reporting Line at 832-386-1091. We want to keep everyone at school healthy and COVID-19 free, so please help us by not sending your child to school sick or with symptoms.
- Students are NOT required to wear a standardized dress code or uniform. All attire must follow the GPISD Student Handbook guidelines.
- All students are required to wear a mask or face covering. Please make sure your child has a mask upon arrival.
- The school building opens at 7:00 a.m. Students must be dropped off by the carpool line if arriving by car or walking. The bus riders will be dropped off at the bus ramp in front of the school.
- Students will report to their classroom upon arrival. They will sit (socially distanced) against the wall until the teacher opens the classroom door at 7:30 a.m.
- Students may bring a clear or mesh backpack to school.
- Bring your Chromebooks and chargers each day. Please make sure they are charged at home.
- Students will eat breakfast for free in the classrooms every day.
- Students should bring a water bottle with them. Please label it with your child's name. Water fountains/water dispensers are currently closed. Considering sending an extra bottle water on PE days.
- Students will be served lunch for free this year. Students will eat in the cafeteria but will be separated to ensure social distancing. The lunch schedule has also been modified to ensure cleaning of tables/seats before the next group enters.
- If students would like, they may bring lunch from home. No outside food deliveries or eating with students will be allowed this year.
- Student dismissal will be staggered. Front and back walkers will be released first; and then car riders. All car riders will receive a new tag for this year. (See the flyer below for more details.) Be sure to communicate with your child's teacher or the front office how your child will go home should there be any changes.
- Classrooms are sanitized daily by our custodial team. In addition, all staff members have access to disinfectant sprays and cleaners to further maintain a safe environment.
