NOTEWORTHY NEWS BY MRS. FOSTER
WEEK OF FEBRUARY 23, 2015
CAMP ACADEMICS
GREETINGS
The cold weather is finally here and Spring Break is just 2 weeks away! I know that Spring Break is a break from school, but it would be great if you could make sure that your child reads each day. You wouldn’t think that a week of no reading would hurt a child, but it really does. This is the final week of Black History Month.
READING/WRITING
We are continuing to study fairy tales. We are looking at common characteristics of them. Each fairy tale has a lesson. We have learned that we should always listen to our parents, never talk to strangers, and that we don’t take things that don’t belong to us. We are really working hard on the parts of a story. We know that a story has a beginning, a middle, and an end, but it is hard to remember to put details in. Ask your child to tell you a story. As they tell the story, remind them to use their senses to describe what is happening.
MATH
SOCIAL STUDIES
We are talking about what houses look like now and what they looked like in the past. Past, present, and future are difficult concepts for the kids to understand. Ask them about what they did yesterday, and refer to that as the past. Have them tell you what they did today: the future, and what they will do tomorrow: the future.
SCIENCE
We are studying about the seasons and how different seasons bring different types of weather.
PEARLS OF WISDOM
The secret of getting ahead is getting started.
