Grit: The Key to Your Success at FLVS

Special Education and CMIT/504

Please be conscientious regarding Special Education and CMIT/504 accommodations. If a Special Education student is having difficulty, consult with the student's Case Manager and Emily Soheili. For CMIT/504 students, work with Heidi Summerlin and Julia Canby. Of course, always involve the parent. If you have any questions in this area, see Heidi Summerlin, Emily Soheili, or any administrator.

Semester Exams and Grades

Thanks in advance for your attention to Semester Exams and Semester Grades. Emphasize the importance of these exams with your students and encourage them to do their very best and make the highest grade possible for the semester.

Tutorials and Activity Bus

Thanks to everyone for giving your attention to targeted tutorials. For morning tutorials, please make sure your students have had the opportunity to get breakfast in the cafeteria. After school, students should be in their tutorial group by 3:40pm. Please keep the students with you until 4:30. At that time, escort your tutorial group to the cafeteria. Make sure your students have already gone to their locker and had a restroom break before bringing them to the cafeteria for the Activity Bus.

Staff Member of the Month

Congratulations to Molly McCreary for being selected as our September Staff Member of the Month!

Here are some comments staff members had to say about Molly:

"Molly is always so helpful and welcoming. The kids love going to the library and love the warm, safe environment she's created!! You can tell she is passionate about her work and the kids, she is one of the reasons Otto is such a great place!"

"Molly is just awesome! She is always helpful and will find something that you have been looking for to read :)"

"Molly brings the family together at Otto!"

"Molly goes above and beyond for students and staff every day."

"Molly is a fantastic librarian that really knows books. However, even more importantly, she really knows kids. The students love going to the library and hearing book talks and information from Molly. In addition, she really supports the staff. She makes sure all of her teachers have the resources they need."

"Molly is always helping other Teachers, getting kids interested in reading and helps a kid get so excited about a book they want to read the next one. Always is on top of the books that teens are wanting to read. She is always making sure if somebody in the staff as well that is going through something personal, making sure they know the rest of us are thinking about them."

Best wishes to you, Molly! Congrats and thanks for all you do to make Otto a special place to teach and learn.
