Findley Elementary School
June 11, 2020
Message from the Principal
Good Afternoon Findley Families,
Well, this has definitely been a year to remember, but, we have persevered and learned many things about what we can do and accomplish even though times got tough. We can do hard things, Findley.
Although I don’t know how BSD will implement the guidance set forth by the ODE and Oregon Health Authority, we know our return to school will look very different from previous years. This summer, I will be working alongside district leadership to develop an Operational Blueprint for Reentry that will fit the needs of Findley’s unique context. This “blueprint” will address eight essential elements which include; Public Health Protocols, Equity, Instruction, and Family and Community Engagement. I have linked to official document from ODE here for you to review:
Please too, be on the lookout for a survey from BSD where you will have the opportunity to indicate your desire for your students to attend on-line programming full-time in 20-21 school year.
I am linking our Final SEL Lesson from Mrs. Hargrave and Mrs. Gotfried, here as well. We hope you are able to take some time to complete this lesson together as a family. In light of the events happening around our country and the world we felt it important to remind our students and families that you are valued and cared for; that we hold everyone in highest regard and that we are a school family and our community is one of love and inclusion. We hope this lesson will act as a reminder of that, and allow families the opportunity for discussion and/or reflection.
My wish for all our students this summer is that you stay well, stay safe, and HAVE FUN! I miss you all and look forward to the day we can all be together again.
Happy Summer Dragons,
Sherry Marsh, Ed.D.
If your child will be attending school in a different School District / State / Country, please be sure to drop off the chrome book that may have been borrowed before you check out for the year. We will be in the building on Thursday's from 9-1 through the 18th of June.
Thanks for taking care of getting them to us.
Dear Findley Families,
We’re excited to let you know that our Findley Social Emotional Learning (SEL) website has launched! Our site contains information and research around the topic of SEL and what we’re doing at Findley to help all our students grow socially and emotionally. There are activities & resources you can use at home and even tips for adult self-care. We’ve also included a page on SEL for Summer that provides activities that would make a great addition to what you may already have planned for your family this summer. In addition, all our remote learning lessons and parent partnership presentations are available on the website too.
As the 2019-2020 school year comes to a close and summer break begins please know that we are as committed as ever to your child’s social & emotional wellbeing and look forward to partnering with you in the coming school year.
Take Care and Be Well,
Emily Gotfried, Counselor
Susan Hargrave, Student Success Coach
