Message from Mrs. Wilson

It's been another great week at Milroy! Thank you to the PTO for providing the Milroy Merry Market for our students. This is a great opportunity for our students to purchase low cost gifts for their family members. I appreciate the hard work put in by the PTO volunteers!


Please make sure you put Thursday, December 14th on your calendar. From 6:00-7:30, we will have our Christmas Program along with our Digital Learning/Family Night event. Stations will be set up around the school for everyone to participate and have a good time. We will have Santa and the Grinch available for photo opportunities! Students are to arrive between 5:45 and 5:55 and proceed to their classroom. Door 12 will be open beginning at 5:45. The program will begin promptly at 6:00. Students are to dress in red or green if possible!


For the month of December, please see the "December Days of Joy" Calender for our SPIRIT DAYS! It's always fun to see the students and staff participate in our spirit days!


Donuts with Grown-ups has been extremely successful so far this year. Thank you all for attending and supporting your child and our school! Our next one will be the second week of January on the 12th! Just a reminder, we have this event in place of eating lunch with students. We appreciate your understanding.

We would like to create planning committees for the Spring Fling and Field Day. Each committee will consist of a committee chair and 2-4 additional volunteers. If you are interested in being a part of one of these committees, please reach out to a PTO officer for more information! Additional volunteers will be requested later to help at the time of each event.

CAR RIDERS

BUS RIDERS

Please talk with your child about bus safety and how it is important to sit in the seat properly, keep hands and feet inside the aisle, and to follow the expectations we have in place. I've explained to all students that the bus driver's job is to get them to and from school safely. However, they need to do their job as well and follow the rules.


Students are to only ride the bus assigned to him/her. We are not able to allow students to "bus hop" and ride home with friends, etc. Thanks for your help with this.

Important Information from Central Office

Rush County Broadbank Speed Test

This is a new speed test which is different than what was done last year. They need this data to try to bring broadband to cover all of Rush County. We appreciate your participation!

Additional Notes

Also, a note from Mr. Jameson:

"There will be no "guest bus passes" for any students on Rush County School buses. Students will not be allowed to take friends home with them on the bus for a party or sleepover."

Lisa Wilson

Mrs. Wilson is the Milroy Elementary School Principal. She has been in the education field for 28 years serving in various roles. Together with her husband, William, they have three children and nine grandkids. She loves to go to the beach and spend time with her family. Mrs. Wilson loves her job and the best part about it she gets to see kids everyday!

Kim Durand

Mrs. Durand is our School Nurse. This is her fourth year at Milroy Elementary. She is originally from Connecticut and we're luck to have her in Indiana now! Mrs. Durand and her husband have two sons. She loves animals! Mrs. Durand enjoys spending time with her family and reading in her spare time!

Karen Wagner

Mrs. Wagner is starting year 9 at Milroy Elementary. She is the "First Lady" at our school because she really is the first lady you see when you walk in our doors! She has two kids. She enjoys spending time with her 3 grandchildren (the fourth is on the way) and working in her flower gardens. Mrs. Wagner is a multi-tasker and she's extremely good at her job!

Lisa French

Mrs. French is an IU East graduate. She has worked in Franklin County schools for several years and she is excited to be at Milroy Elementary for her second year. Mrs. French is married and has three children. She lives on a farm in Franklin County and has a passion for all animals. Her family is actively involved in 4-H. To relax she enjoys long walks with her family on the Whitewater Trails. Mrs. French loves to travel and dreams of visiting Alaska someday.

Kalissa Hellmich

Mrs. Hellmich is the 5th grade teacher at Milroy Elementary. This is her first year at Milroy, but she taught 5th grade for seven years at South Knox Elementary in Vincennes, IN. For the last 2 years she was the STEAM coordinator at South Knox for students in grades K-6. This summer she got married to Adam Hellmich and moved to Greensburg. She’s looking forward to getting to know everyone at Milroy Elementary!

Mary Byrne

Mrs. Byrne is starting her 35th year in the teaching profession and her eighth year as a Milroy Cardinal. Graduating from Indiana University in 1995 with degrees in journalism and public policy, Mrs. Byrne returned to St. Mary-of-the-Woods College to complete coursework for her elementary education degree in 1988. Mrs. Byrne’s husband, John, is materials supervisor for Copeland Corporation. They have two grown children, Alex and Sydney; three grandcats and one granddog.

Cheyenne Robertson

Mrs. Robertson is so excited to be joining the Milroy Elementary School. She has been married to her husband, Caleb, for 5 years and they just had their son, Maverick, this past fall. She will be teaching our first grade class this year. She was previously teaching first grade at another school for the past 4 years, but after starting her family she wanted to be closer to home. She is looking forward to working in her own community and fostering a love for learning in her room.

Bailey Narwold

Mrs. Narwold is excited to join Milroy Elementary as the 2nd grade teacher this year. She graduated from IUPUC in 2021. This will be her third year teaching for Rush County Schools. Mrs. Narwold married her husband, David last October. Together, they live in Hamburg with their puppy, Nellie. Outside of school, she enjoys going on jeep rides, spending time with family and friends, cooking, traveling, and reading. Mrs. Narwold is so excited to see what this year has in store at Milroy Elementary!

Kim Cook

Mrs. Cook is very excited to be in her new role for the first nine weeks as our third grade teacher and now our new Dean of Students and Home School Liaison. She has 16+ years teaching experience. Mrs. Cook is originally from Greenfield, but has lived in Rush County now for the past eleven years. Together with her husband, Jeff, they have three children and two grandchildren. She enjoys helping out on the family farm where they raise corn, soybeans and show pigs.

Mrs. Hoeing is an instructional assistant and is beginning her 18th year with Milroy Elementary. When she has time, she likes to venture to new places. Mrs. Hoeing especially enjoys time with her family and being with friends.

Katy Anderson

Mrs. Anderson is beginning her third year at Milroy Elementary. This year, she will be one of our 6th grade teachers. She has always enjoyed working with children and finding creative ways to help them learn! Mrs. Anderson, her husband, and their two children live on a farm just outside of Milroy. Her favorite thing to do is to spend time with her family.

Danielle Ellis

Mrs. Ellis is a lifelong resident of Rush county and grew up in Milroy. Mrs. Ellis and her husband, Adam, will have been married 13 years this October. She has one daughter, Leah, who attends Milroy Elementary. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, crafting, and camping.

Carly Moore

Mrs. Moore is so excited to be returning to Milroy Elementary as the Kindergarten teacher this year! She will be starting her 25th year with Rush County Schools. Mrs. Moore taught third grade for 8 years in the old building. She has been teaching Kindergarten since. Rushville Elementary West is where she has been teaching for the past 3 years. Mrs. Moore enjoyed her time teaching the West Warrior Kinders. She created wonderful relationships while she was there. However, she couldn’t be happier to be returning “home” to her previous Milroy Kindergarten classroom! Mrs. Moore is a Rush County native and has been married to her high school sweetheart, Keith, for 25 years. They have two children, Macy (21) and Reese (19) as well as a 6 year old black German Shepherd named Drake. In her free time, she enjoys reading mysteries, mowing the lawn, and spending time with her family and friends.

Cheryl Bacon

Mrs. Bacon is a kindergarten Teaching Assistant and a bus driver for Milroy. This fall will begin her 12th year in the classroom and 16th year as a bus driver. Mrs. Bacon is married to her husband, Doug, and they have 2 sons that are in college at Purdue! In her spare time she enjoys hiking, boating, kayaking, exploring the great outdoors, and spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Bacon looks forward to leading and teaching the students here at Milroy!

Dawn Wineman

Mrs. Wineman is very excited to be joining Milroy Elementary School. She attended Milroy Elementary during her childhood years and is looking forward to giving back to the Milroy community that she dearly loves. She will be teaching first grade. She and her husband, Darrell, have one grown daughter, Lauren. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and going on new adventures.

India Burris

Ms. Burris is our IT Coordinator for Milroy Elementary School. She has worked in technology for five years, and three years of that time was spent specializing in education technology for schools. Previously she was also a teacher and IT technician for Franklin County Community School Corporation for over two years. .

Bob Bridges

One of our School Resource Officers is Mr. Bridges. He teaches our D.A.R.E. program to 5th graders and is a valuable asset to Rush Co. Schools.

Kelli Koors

Mrs. Koors is thrilled to be back at Milroy! This is her 25th year teaching in Rush County Schools. She is a reading specialist trained in dyslexia and wants to foster a love for reading and learning in her students. She and her husband, Tim, live in Greensburg and have been married for 23 years. They love to spend time with family and friends, entertain and travel-especially to the beach or mountains! She is looking forward to building relationships with the students and families at MES!

Kirah Banks

Ms. Banks is a University of Dayton graduate. She is excited to be back for her second year as our librarian. In her free time, Ms. Banks enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family.

Amy Kuhn

Mrs. Kuhn is excited to be joining the Milroy Cardinal family as the new Resource teacher. This will be her 16th year in education. Mrs. Kuhn and her husband, Ryan, live outside Waldron with their four children. She enjoys spending time with her family, watching her children’s sporting events, and going on new adventures. She looks forward to building relationships with the students and families at Milroy Elementary!

Caroline Smith

Ms. Smith is our PE teacher this year. This is her second year teaching PE. She graduated from Ball State University in Exercise Science. She is currently enrolled in the Transition to Teach program. In her off time you can find her doing physical activities that include; riding my bike, running, and playing pickleball. She also enjoys cooking meals, watching sports, and spending time with her girls.

Alison Mauer

Ms. Mauer is a part-time teaching assistant helping students in all grades. She is also an X-ray/CT at DCMH where she has been for the past 30 years. In her spare time her kids and grandkids keep her busy. Her oldest daughter, Morgan, is married and has 3 girls with one more girl on the way at the beginning of August. She has twins, Brooke and Brady, who will be juniors at NDHS and Megan who will be a sophomore this year.

Mrs. Troyer loves gardening, traveling, reading, and spending time with her family! She is an awesome person and does such a god job working hard in our cafeteria.

Erica Adams

Mrs. Adams has lived in Milroy for 8 years with her husband James and 3 children. Brennen is in 6th grade, Kiernyn 3rd grade, and Kinnley 1st grade. They all attend Milroy Elementary. She loves spending time with her family and visiting the ocean. Mrs. Adams does a great job in our cafeteria. She will be serving as our cafeteria manager this year!

Melissa Hanna

Mrs. Hanna is a Title One Assistant at Milroy Elementary. She has been in Education since 2001 serving in different roles from Special Education Paraprofessional at North Decatur Schools and Laurel Elementary to Assistant Secretary at Laurel Elementary. Mrs Hanna has been married to her husband, Michael, for 32 years and has 6 children, 3 boys 3 girls. She loves going on vacation to Cancun, Mexico with her husband and enjoys doing puzzles. Mrs. Hanna says the best part about her job is helping each student she works with and encouraging them to keep trying.

Sandy Wright

Mrs. Wright is married to Richard and has been for 34 years. She has two kids, Emily and Curtis. Mrs. Wright has worked for Rush County Schools for 15 years. She enjoys mowing and gardening. She also enjoys playing corn hole, bowling, and playing cards with family and friends. Mrs. Wright is a great addition to Milroy Elementary!

Joyce Norvell

Miss Joyce is the Head Custodian at Milroy Elementary. She went to the old Milroy School building when she was a child. She has worked at the new and old building for the past 22 years and she loves her job! Miss Joyce is married to John and they have 11 children. Spending time with her family and friends, using the metal detector, and watching IU basketball are her favorite things to do. She also loves to go to the beach!

Amy Reynolds

Miss Amy studied Speech-Language Pathology at Purdue University. She has been a Speech-Language Pathologist at Rush County Schools for 14 years. She enjoys traveling around Rush County servicing a wide range of students.


Miss Amy lives in New Palestine, Indiana. She loves spending time with her family and close friends. She has two cats. Max and Millie are big snugglers, good company, and fun entertainment.


Miss Amy enjoys fishing, reading, baking, and putting together puzzles. She would rather be outside, but if Miss Amy is relaxing on the couch, you will most likely find her watching Friends reruns or the Hallmark Channel.

Hannah Allen

Ms. Allen recently graduated from North Decatur and is attending IUPUC to study elementary education. She loves working with kids and is looking to gain expierence by working at Milroy. She has a 4 pound dog, Molly! In her free time she enjoys boating, shopping, and hanging out with her friends!

Abby Herbert

Ms. Herbert is very excited to be our Art teacher at Milroy this year! She is a lifetime resident of Rush County and an RCHS graduate. In her free time she enjoys spending time with friends and family, crafting, and being outdoors. She looks forward to sharing her love of art with the students.
