Middle School Charter Reinforces C.A.R.E.ing Principles
We set aside time each week to focus on social emotional learning, and through RULER, create an environment where everyone feels POSITIVE, SAFE, RESPECTED, SUPPORTED AND MOTIVATED. These feelings are the foundation of the Fox Lane Middle School Student Charter. The Charter was developed by the students and for the students. We are all currently practicing the behaviors that support our Charter like:
Following school's rules and guiding others to make good decisions to feel SAFE.
RESPECTING others by letting them feel heard and embracing differences.
Being each other's cheerleaders to MOTIVATE them and make school a fun place to learn.
Being kind, encouraging and inclusive so our school is a POSITIVE place to be.
SUPPORTING others by giving them advice to help build their confidence.
Like so many others, I like to reflect at this time of year. Masks, quarantining and distance learning may invade my every recollection of 2021, but it is the excited chatter in the hallways I hear and the looks of wonder in the classrooms I see that inspire me everyday to be better and better in service to those at Fox Lane Middle School. And, as our school days for 2021 come to an end, I want to thank you for trusting in me and partnering with me.
I wish you all a happy and healthy holiday and new year!
Best,
Mary Harrison
Principal of Fox Lane Middle School

Assigned Lunch Seating Update
As you may know, in order to adhere to COVID-19 safety protocols, we assigned specific seats to all students during lunch. Lunch supervisors are now able to take accurate attendance so we can properly contact trace. Happily, we have not had to quarantine anyone from exposure in the cafeteria. We understand this wasn't a welcome change, but everyone is coping well and we greatly appreciate their cooperation. After students finish eating they are free to go outside and meet up with their friends for recess. Weather permitting, students may also eat lunch outside.
Daily Reminders
- All students should BRING a MASK to school with them. They are required indoors except when actively eating.
- All persons riding school buses must wear masks. Students can only ride on the bus they are assigned to.
- Students are encouraged to bring REFILLABLE WATER BOTTLES to school. We have numerous refilling stations. Our water fountains are not accessible at this time.
- Students should DRESS appropriately for the colder weather.
- Students should bring their FULLY-CHARGED school-issued CHROMEBOOKS and their chargers to school everyday. Personal computers are not allowed.
