From the Principal's Desk...
HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I wish all Pine Island Families a new year filled with hope and promise!! Welcome Back. Hoping everyone had the time to relax and rest up! Here, at school, we are ready to make 2018 a year filled with success through hard work and dedication by providing students with daily opportunities to grow. The hard work is the responsibility of all of us- teachers, students, staff, families, and administrators. I know that together we can make learning an exciting venture!!

Weather Closing Information
When there is a cancellation of school due to inclement weather, please watch or listen carefully to the names of the school districts that are not in session on the television or radio. There is a district in Kalamazoo County names Comstock Public Schools. We are identified as Comstock Park Public Schools in Kent County. If your information is current in Powerschool-- you will also receive a message from our school messenger system.
Service Projects
Our students did some amazing service projects already this school year! We collected almost 1000 pairs of shoes for third world countries, over 500 food items for families in our community, and over 200 toys/books for families also in our community. What a great message we are sending to our future leaders about giving back! Great Job! Be on the lookout for our next project!
Flu Season
It's that time of year again, please listen to your child if they are not feeling well before school. Do not send them i f they have a fever, diarrhea, or are vomiting. It makes your child miserable AND also exposes their classmates. If you child is too ill to go out for recess, they are too ill to attend school. All students in attendance will participate in recess activities.

Dress for the Weather
Please be sure to send students to school appropriately dressed for the weather. Our students spend time outside during the school day and it is very important that they come to school with proper clothing for the season. A warm coat, hat, gloves, snow pants, and boots are all necessary items during the winter months. Please have items clearly marked with your child's name. Our school policy is that the students go outside for recess unless the temper or windchill is 0 or below.
