NEWS, RESOURCES AND LEARNING FOR PANTHER STAFF, 2/4/18
GLOBAL UPDATES: WORLD READ ALOUD DAY--WOW-WHAT A DAY!!!
We sure got our literacy in for Friday. Thanks to all staff for having your classes on time to the morning program and in place for guest readers. The readers all had glowing accolades for our students, staff and school. Hope you got to see the WRAL feature on Friday. Our new Academics Assistant Superintendent, Drew Cook pushed out an extremely complementary comment to our Twitter site following reading and talking with the 5th grade.
Thanks also goes out to Michelle Macumber and Meriwynn Mansori from Participate for donating an alphabet book to our school--M is for Maple. Carmen bar coded the book and will return to the kindergarten teachers for immediate use. Great pictures from a Canadian perspective.
Peggy Freer is safely in Belize and hopes to do Google Hangouts with interested classes on Tuesday and Wednesday. She will be at our sister school Holy Cross Anglican School in Belize this week and hopes to do Google Hangouts with interested grade levels on Tuesday and Wednesday. See your Global Committee reps and Heather Shipley for details.
January’s school wide focus WAS on SDG #4, Quality Education. As a reminder, there is a site full of excellent resources that you can find in the PUE Master Folder>Global>Quality Education.
February's school wide focus will be on "No Poverty" to be rolled out at February 21st Staff Meeting.
Be sure to check out the Global Committee's notes from this past Thursday on revised course completion date and other global resources.
Friday, February 4-8

Announcements for the Week of February 4- February 8, 2019
School Counselor Appreciation Week: This is is School Counselor's Week! Let's make sure to let Ms. Schreier know how much we appreciate her and what she is doing here at PUE! We are so thankful to have one of our own working here and making a difference in the lives of our young people. What are some ways your class/grade level can show your appreciation?
WPAW Still in Transition:
Continued thank you for your patience with our transition with new equipment to complete our move from analog to digital station production. Once completed we will send morning news through your laptops with higher resolution and the ability for you to use your ceiling speakers. Thanks to Ben and Heather for working with Wake tech resources with this.
Mark Your Calendars: Two ALL STAFF EVENTS are coming. Please make plans to participate for a portion of each these events:
- Friday, February 15: Valentine's Day Dance (6:30-8:30 pm)
- Sunday, March 31: Spring Fling (2-5:00 pm)
Consideration of Retention Names Due:
Now that we are finalizing our MOY data for reading and math we need to formally alert parents of students that should be on our consideration for retention list. Go to the linked Consideration of Retention Sheet to fill in your students that, after your collection of data at level 2 or 3 should be considered. As the Intervention Team has discussed with you these are the students that are consistently below benchmark, have a PEP and have been progress monitored for an extended period of time. Go to this LINK to view, copy and return email to Kevin by Wednesday, February 13.
"Double Duties": While we have been without one TA position, covering duties has been difficult. In addition to Administration, a special thanks to Ms. Person, Ms. Britt, Ms. Baginski, Ms. Schreier, Ms. Perry, Ms. Johnson, Ms. Blocker, Ms. Hopper, Ms. Freer, Ms. Fry, and teachers for doing extra lunch duties and other duties to help keep PUE safe and running smoothly. If you helped and were not recognized, please accept our apologies and thanks.
2019/2020 Staff Intent Form
The 2019-20 Staff Intent Form is now available. Please complete this form by Thursday, February 28th. Next year Wake County will continue to transition the mandated class size requirements so it is essential that you prioritize your desired grade levels as there will need to be some adjustments to some grade level assignments.
Employee Transfer Window Opens
The employee transfer window is now open February 1-May 20. Go to Employee Transfer if you plan to apply for a transfer.
