Session Objective:

It is time to brush up on new and great resources that will turn an ordinary classroom into a stage for engaging learning. This fast-paced session will showcase the latest finds in standards based content, productivity life-savers, web 2.0 tools, collaborative tools, and student engagement applications. Come prepared to share your favorite resources with the group.

Quizizz is a fun multiplayer classroom activity, that allows all your students to practice together. Students use their own devices or a computer lab to interact together in a quiz show type review game. Choose from curated public questions sets or create your own. After each session, student responses and scores download into an Excel file.

Edueto is a free service that allows teachers to create their own online activities for students. Teachers can create exercises such as quizzes, matching, writing, sorting, equations, sequences and more and assign them to their students to complete. Student progress is tracked. There are also exercises created by other teachers that you can use and even edit. You can also login using Edmodo credentials.

Actively Learn

Actively Learn is a digital reading platform that lets students find joy and purpose in reading. It can be used across the curriculum and comes preloaded with thousands of pieces of content spanning multiple grade levels, subjects and course. Teachers can add a layer of instruction on top of any text. This includes questions (short answer, multiple choice, polls), categorized notes, and links. Students can also annotate and share notes with their peers plus much more.

The PlayPosit bookmarklet empowers you to add questions into nearly any video you find online with the click of a button.

A great way to share information! Use Tackk to create class newsletters to send by email, on your website, or simply print. You could also have students create a newsletter, timeline, book review, or other class projects on Tackk.

Socrative lets teachers engage and assess their students with educational activities on tablets, laptops, and smartphones. Through the use of real time questioning, instant result aggregation and visualization, teachers can gauge the whole class’ current level of understanding. Socrative saves teachers time so the class can further collaborate, discuss, extend and grow as a community of learners.

Snip is a screenshot editing tool that allows you to annotate and record on top of any image you have captured on your computer. Great for showing students examples.

Create interactive presentations students can access on their own smartphones, tablets, or in a lab setting. Import your pre-existing PowerPoint presentations or create from scratch. You can embed questions, polls, drawing questions, videos, webpages, etc. At the end of each session, download student results to a PDF file.

Concord Consortium - a non-profit educational technology laboratory for science, math and engineering. Help your students learn with hundreds of interactive, research-based resources covering a huge variety of science, engineering, and math topics.

Britannica - Uses three unique interfaces to thousands of curriculum-relevant articles, images, videos, audio clips, primary sources, maps, editor-recommended websites, and three separate databases make Britannica School the go-to site for research for students at all levels.

LearnZillion - Access hundreds of interactive, video-driven lessons aligned to Common Core State Standards. Create classes and make assignments that students can complete in a lab setting or on their own.

Seesaw - Seesaw empowers students of any age to independently document what they are learning at school. Students capture learning with photos and videos of their work, or by adding digital creations. Student work can be shared with classmates, parents, or published to a class blog.
