Parents,

Every day our teachers and staff have been entrusted with the most important job of keeping your children safe. We take this job very seriously. At JAE, your children are our children, but we need your help. Every morning and every afternoon hundreds of vehicles pass through our campus, some traveling well above our posted 15 mile per hour speed limit. Also, when parents decide to bypass the car rider loop by using the "Jags Treehouse" entrance, they run the rise of colliding with a distracted child who may be crossing. Children and staff use that parking lot at all hours of the day, and it can be extremely hard to see them between the parked cars. This 15mph speed limit includes the full length of Shute Lange adjacent to the school. The safety of our beloved crossing guard is also important to us. Please, slow down on and around campus. Our SRO cannot be in all places at once, but is prepared to issue citations to anyone putting the safety of our children at risk.

Possip Survey

Our first Possip survey went out last week. You can expect to receive an email or a text on the last Thursday each month. You can provide feedback for us on how we are doing at JAE.

Thank you for sharing ideas through Possip this week! We’ve heard from 168 of you so far this year. We are seeing that 95% of you are happy or mostly happy with Jack Anderson Elementary this week.

Thank you for answering our bonus question this week about the start of school! We appreciate all of your responses and value hearing about your family’s experience.

This week we heard members in the school community share examples of praise, appreciation, and feedback or questions.

  • Appreciation for staff and their dedication to the school and students during this time.
  • Praise for the school's communication efforts.
  • Greater clarity and communication around COVID safety measures.
  • Feedback about transportation, both bus and carlines.

We are taking all of your feedback and ideas into consideration for our future planning and follow-up. We hope to hear from you again on our next Possip Pulse Check!

Thanks again for sharing!

JAE School Hours

The doors of Jack Anderson Elementary School open at 8:05 a.m. Students are expected to be in their seats ready for instruction at 8:40. JAE dismisses at 3:40.

Mask Up for Music

Our precious Ms. McCoy receives treatments that weaken her immune system. For this reason, students are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED to wear masks during music. Please send a mask for your child if possible. We have a limited supply of disposable masks we can provided if needed.

Related Arts classes at JAE last 45 minutes. Students attend one Related Arts class each day. There are 7 related arts rotations: P.E. (Hellman), P.E. (Massey), Art (Ligon), Music (McCoy), Library (Moran), Technology (Jackson/Nash), and STEM (Thurston). Each student will attend Music 1/7 school days.

If a sensory or health complication prevents your child from wearing a mask, please alert your teacher if we do not already have documentation.
