Effects Of Alcohol
BY CLAIRE LEWIS
What does it do to your body?
Alcohol is a very addictive substance. When you abuse alcohol there can be severe effects on your body. Alcohol can affect your balance, short term memory and make you feel nauseous and dizzy. the long term effects are even worse. When you drink alcohol your liver goes into overdrive trying to create enzymes which remove alcohol form your body. This can then result in a fatty liver which affects the way it functions. Alcohol can also affect your brain. It slows down the central nervous system, which over time can cause brain damage, slow memory, and can stop your learning and physical growth. Alcohol also affects the stomach, bowel, pancreas, heart and kidneys and makes you more susceptible to diseases.
