Lindsey Weekly Update
December 4, 2020
Message from Mrs. Bellan
It's been one crazy week. We appreciate your willingness to be flexible beyond belief. Staff, students, and families have gone above and beyond to ensure students have access to instruction in very challenging circumstances.
We have a lot to cram into these upcoming two weeks of school but will do our best to make it joyful and rigorous!
Parents have been doing an excellent job keeping home sick children and more than ever we need your help to closely monitor your child's health.
Attention 4th Grade Families: CogAT testing
The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) will be administered to fourth graders in the upcoming weeks. This is a group-administered assessment that helps to estimate students’ abilities in the areas of learned reasoning and problem-solving. The test is composed of three batteries: verbal, quantitative and nonverbal. Many districts, including West Geauga, use this assessment to determine qualification for gifted services.
We will be in touch with each family as soon as we have the results from the testing. Please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time with questions or concerns.
If your 4th-grade child is virtual and you would like your child to be assessed (this is completely optional), please reach out to Anna Laubscher to arrange a time for this assessment to be completed. This is something we can execute now or in the Spring depending on the child and family's needs. Mrs. Laubscher can be reached at: Anna.Laubscher@westg.org
Please let us know if you have any questions at all.
Best,
Meagan

Food Drive
University Hospitals Geauga Medical Center would like to encourage and challenge West Geauga Schools to participate with us in a food drive, entitled “Feeding Our Communities”. This Food Drive benefiting the Greater Cleveland Food Bank runs from December 1st through December 15th.
This foodbank was chosen because it is the largest hunger-relief organization in Northeast Ohio; and has served more than 350,000 people in Cuyahoga, Ashtabula, Geauga, Lake, Ashland, and Richland counties in 2019. Throughout Northeast Ohio, one in six people is food insecure – meaning they may not know where their next meal will come from. The Greater Cleveland Food Bank seeks to bridge the meal gap, connecting individuals with the nutritious meals they need to succeed.
