Duke Ellington

Edward Kennedy Ellington was born April 29th, 1899. He was born Washington D.C. Growing up people called him Duke. Growing up he studied both music and commercial arts. By the 1918 he known as an agent and a band leader. This started a life time of music and fame.


Duke Ellington had a ripple effect on history. Him and the jazz legends of history open the flood gates with any African American with music talent. This also made more white people accept more black artist hoping that they found the next Duke or Louis. Duke also helped start the age of Jazz. This also gave more African Americans confidence.
