President Stephen Grover Cleveland
President Cleveland didn't want the annexation that’s why he withdrew the treaty that the president before him requested. His recommendation that the monarchy be restored that was rejected by the congress and the house of the representatives voted to censure the U.S minister to Hawaii and adopted a resolution opposing annexation. He even sent the U.S minister to Hawaii to restore queen’s throne under the 187 constitution but Dole refuse to step aside. President Cleveland was unwilling to overthrow the government by force and his successor president McKinley negotiated a treaty with the republic of Hawaii in 1897. In the end president Cleveland didn't supported the overthrow of the Hawaiian kingdom but he never do anything to stop it.
President Benjamin Harrison
In 1893 an American businessmen lobbied Benjamin Harrison was the president during king Kalakaua reign and the overthrow. president Harrison and the congress wants to annex the Hawaiian islands so in his last month in office he sent an annexation treaty to the senate for confirmation but the next president withdrew the treaty. In 1876 he made the reciprocity treaty which guarantees American markets for Hawaiian sugar. President Harrison force king Kalakaua to sign the bayonet constitution in 1887. Which made his powers and diminishing the native Hawaiians voice in the government and the U.S gets Pearl Harbor.
Minister John L, Stevens
John L. Stevens is the American minister at Honolulu. His one of the many racist he thought Hawaiians are not intelligence that couldn't handle a kingdom as big as Hawaii. He requested captain Wiltse who is the commander of the U.S.S Boston to a land force. The well-armed troops that was accompanied by two Gatling guns were landed and marched through the street if Honolulu to the public hall. Which the building was across by the government building and in the view of the queen’s palace. After entering, he immediately recognize the new government and the letter to address to the president which is Sanford B. Dole. Honolulu government building in January 17, 1893.

In January 17, 1893 Hawaii’s monarchy was overthrown when a group of businessmen and sugar planters forced Queen Liliuokalani to abdicate. Which led to the dissolving of the kingdom of Hawaii. Its annexation as a U.S territory and which eventually the admission as the 50th state in the union. The topic of the Hawaiian kingdom overthrow is important in history because the westerners tried to forget about the old Hawaiian tradition. They force the queen and the before kings to sign constitution or document that would give them the right to own some part or most of the part of the Hawaiian Islands.

Hawaii kingdom overthrow legally and lawfully a state of the union? No, because they force the queen to abdicate. Which led to dissolving the kingdom of Hawaii and the annexation as a U.S territory. Legal means relating to law and deriving authority from and founded on the law, lawfully means being in harmony with the law. Did the U.S do those things no because they used their powers and they threaten the Hawaiian king and queen just to get want they wanted. They even used the force of their well-armed soldiers and they killed more the 300 native Hawaiian. Did the U.S even think what would the Hawaiian felt about the overthrow like did they ever foot their self into their shoe. The native Hawaiians tried to protect their rights and to help and supported there queen, some even cost there life in danger and death.
