Kia ora koutou,
Wow…it’s hard to believe we have come to the end of Term 3. I would like to take this opportunity to wish the students of Stanley Ave a well deserved break with family, whānau and friends. During Term 3, our students have continued to impress me with their efforts and achievements and I know they will take this momentum into Term 4. Our teaching staff are to be thanked for their incredible efforts and our school community for their ongoing support.
We are looking forward to the many enjoyable events Term 4 has to offer. A notable change in Term 4 will see changes to student end of year reporting, as we make the move to digital reporting. This is exciting for Stanley Ave as we will be using the Hero- Linc Ed Learning Management System as a tool for the reporting of student progress. From Week 1 next term we'll be putting out weekly communication to support you with understanding, accessing and viewing the digital reports. During Friday 11th November we will be having a Teacher Only Day focused on assessment and reporting for staff to consolidate this new learning.
Finally, it’s so neat to see the way the community uses our facilities and resources. However, over the long weekend, our school became the dumping ground for rubbish and remains from gatherings. This was highly disappointing that our school was treated in such a way. Please keep an eye out for our school over the holidays particularly on the weekends. If you need to report any suspicious behaviour that’s not an emergency please call 105 and give details. If it’s an emergency please call 111. Your assistance with keeping our school grounds and facilities safe is greatly appreciated.
Have a great break and see you in Term 4!
Mā te wā (See you later)
John Byers

Winter Olympics Trophy winners
We also congratulated Legend McLaren , winner of the Winter Olympics Most Outstanding Athlete trophy and Gaebriel Gamble, winner of the Winter Olympics Valuable Team Player Trophy. Both these young men displayed attributes, that as a school we are so proud of. The Winter Olympics week is a wonderful week that pushes our students beyond what they ever thought they were capable of, and unites them as a team forever. Legend and Gaeb were strong leaders amongst our team. Congratulations boys!!!

Staff vs Students Bowls
The students bowled a great first 2 ends putting them 5 -0 and never really let the pressure off. Usually I would say things like I am disappointed, I will look to recruit better next year and am still sulking...but the Team played beautiful bowls and we are really proud of them all.
Please note: The staff team will be named in Term 2 and practices will be weekly in 2023, so we can at least be competitive!!!
