One Last Time
CREST CSA
We did it folks. We made it to the end of the 2018 CSA. Your support this year means so much to the whole team here at CREST Farm.
As we put the garden to rest, it is important to note that the farm is supported by incredible volunteers throughout the season. They are the ones visiting the farm on the weekends to check on water and open greenhouses in the heat. They help with harvest and wash oodles and oodles of carrrots. They spend hours in the greenhouse starting all of our seeds throughout the season and thinning our trays before transplanting. They spend hours fixing broken things and building greenhouses. Our volunteer team is the reason that CREST Farm is what it is today. Thank you volunteers!
Also, thank YOU for supporting local agriculture and students learning where their food comes from. The skills that our interns learn each summer stick with them for a lifetime. Some of our interns this year even commented on how they want to be a farmer when they grow up or study agriculture science in college.
This year we all ate gorgeous high quality produce each week. Make sure to thank our farmer David this week at your final pick-up. If you didn't already know, he has been commuting from Eugene every single week to work at the farm. We appreciate his attention to detail and wealth of information about vegetable growing. The farm interns were raving about how many new things they learned this year having him on the farm. Thank you David! We appreciate you!
As you are all aware, there are several changes happening at CREST right now. As we move our energy to the main garden space at CREST HQ, we are excited for what's to come. There is still a possibility of a farm stand with the surplus produce grown during the summer. If that becomes a reality, we will send an email to alert you!
HALF SHARE MEMBERS
Many of you rotate pick-up each week. Due to the scale of this week's pick-up, we encourage half share members to coordinate with each other to pick-up together and split the share between two households. It is a LOT of food for one family. We will also have a large table of extras where you can grab as much of an item as you wish. Please bring a box or a couple boxes with you to pick-up this week if you can remember.
If you normally get delivery and would like to come to the farm this week instead, please let me know by Wednesday at the latest. Call or text (707) 537-5826
