State Wide Tornado Drill
This week is national severe weather preparedness week. All public schools in North Carolina will participate in a state wide tornado drill on Wednesday at 9:30.
During morning announcements Wednesday Miss Fisher will share information with students about why we have Tornado drills and expectations for students during the drill. Please take a moment to emphasize your expectations for student behavior while in the hall during a tornado drill.
At approximately 9:20 we will announce a Tornado Watch as a part of the drill. At this time (and at any other time there is the announcement that conditions are favorable for a tornado) or classes that meet outside the building need to quickly move into the school building.
At 9:30 we will announce the Tornado warning (either over the intercom or with three rings of the bell system) and you will follow procedures to move your class to a hallway. During a drill, please instruct students to move to your designated area (away from drafts and windows), to sit or stoop in a crouched position with hands and arms protecting the head. Wait until the "all clear" signal is given before returning to the classroom.
During the drill we will be moving throughout the building to make sure that all classes have a safe location for cover and will make adjustments as needed.
Continuous Improvement Opportunities
I mentioned creating this after we had the NC Division of Labor complaint, my apologies that it has taken a while to add to our Panda Post. I feel like this is a more productive way to problem solve with one another. This will always be in the Panda Post and can be anonymous.
We want you to be involved in the continuous improvement of our school family! Please share any suggestions. This form can be anonymous if you choose not to share your name, but it is helpful to know who you are so we can ask clarifying questions and work with you on solutions.
We will read and consider every suggestion, but can't guarantee that suggestions will be implemented. If you include your name, we will follow-up with you on your suggestion.
