MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
This past month the elementary schools have been showering our bus drivers with treats to extend our gratitude for them. This week it’s Robinwoods turn! Students wrote poems, thank you letters, and drew pictures to show their appreciation.
It doesn’t have to be Bus Driver Appreciation day to show how thankful we are for them! As we all know, without bus drivers life is a bit more stressful! Be sure to extend a thank you to your drivers when you can, a small token of thanks goes a long way!
STATE REPORT CARDS RELEASED
Last Tuesday, November 15th, the Wisconsin Department of Instruction released its 2021-22 state report card for every publicly funded district and school in the state. Note: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no state or district report cards were issued for the 2019-20 school year.
Overall, there are no changes to the methods used to determine the priority areas, scoring, or rating cut scores for the 2021-22 Wisconsin Department of Instruction report cards. As a reminder, last year’s report card (issued November 2021) should be considered a NEW BASELINE SCORE, and should not be compared to earlier versions of the state report card.
We are proud to share that the 2021-22 State Report Card for Franklin Public Schools shows that we again received an accountability ranking of Exceeds Expectations. This high rating supports the hard work and dedication of our students, families, and staff through very turbulent and unprecedented times over these last few years. Some of the highlights from the 2021-22 report card release include:
Four schools (Country Dale, Pleasant View, Southwood Glen, and Franklin High School) received ratings of “Significantly Exceeds Expectations” (5-star). FHS raised their rating from last year’s “Exceeds Expectations” (4-star) to “Significantly Exceeds Expectations” (5-star).
Two schools (Ben Franklin and Robinwood) received ratings of “Exceeds Expectations (4-star).
Forest Park Middle School received a rating of “Meets Expectations” (3-star).
Franklin Alternative Youth Program (House of Correction) was ranked as “Satisfactory Progress,” as the program does not receive an overall star rating.

4K FAMILY UPDATE
DRESS FOR THE WEATHER
Wisconsin weather is upon us! Please make sure your son/daughter is dressed appropriately for outdoor recess. Coats and hats are necessary for the impending cold weather. However, this being Wisconsin, it can become warm and sunny by noontime. Please remind your child if they choose to remove their jacket during recess they are to be tied around their waist and not left on the playground. The decision to have an outdoor or indoor recess is based on both the wind speed and temperature at 11:30 am. If it is an outside recess day, all students must go outdoors. Please label your child's coat, hat, boots, & mittens with their name.
ROBINWOOD SNOW BAGS AVAILABLE
Robinwood has snow bags available for $8.00 each. If you would like to purchase one please send exact cash or make a check payable to Franklin Public School to the school office. These are great bags to hold snow pants, mittens, hats, boots, & any other winter gear. If you purchase a bag, the office will write your students last name on it unless you let us know otherwise. See photo below:
TRADITION HERE AT ROBINWOOD
In order to showcase the many cultures that make up our Robinwood Family, we will again be displaying a Cultural Tree in the lobby outside of the library. We are asking interested families to donate a decoration to be placed on the tree. This item can be either purchased or handmade. It should however depict a part of your culture or native country. Please place any decorations in a bag with a note as to what holiday and country they represent. We will then label the items with a tag stating that information. These items will not be returned, they will be kept to be reused in following years.
Also, in keeping the spirit of giving alive, we will be having a New Hat and Glove/Mitten Drive. The items can be for children or adults. When the drive is over we will donate them to needy families in our community. You may begin to bring in your items after the Thanksgiving Break (Tuesday, November 29th up until December 16th.The items can be sent with your child or dropped off in the office.
Thank you for helping us continue our tradition!
YOUR CHILD’S EMERGENCY CONTACTS
After the lockdown incident at Franklin High School last week, we examined and reviewed how quickly the messages were getting to families after we sent them. The time for messages to move from us to parents during that incident experienced a small lag. After reviewing this with our messaging provider, we learned of a more efficient way to send messages out during emergencies. As Monday came around and FPMS went into lockdown, evacuation and reunification, the district emergency broadcasts that went out not only went to listed parents/guardians, but also to any “emergency contacts” that are associated with your child(ren) as listed in PowerSchool. Sending these as emergency level messages allows for the emails and phone calls to go out quicker through the system.
We share this with you so you understand that there may be times where your emergency contacts will receive information from us in situations like this. Please share this knowledge with your emergency contacts so they are in the know. We always work to identify ourselves as “Franklin Public Schools” when sending messages. If you wish to change your emergency contacts, you can connect with the main office staff at your child’s school.
