Lutherville Lab Report
What's gone down & what's coming up at the leopards' lair.
December 16, 2022
WHAT. A. WEEK!
We were jam-packed at the Lab this week. We had Skate Night on Monday, Winter Concert on Tuesday, an assembly and a Garden Club special event on Wednesday, caught our breath on Thursday, and had a fun primary day this morning. It's all worth it for the smiles, joy, and pride we see on our students faces.
We are looking forward to a strong finish for our fall learning next week. We have a couple Spirit Days! Wednesday is holiday-wear. Students are encouraged to wear something for for the holiday they celebrate. And Thursday is a schoolwide pajama day!
FYI - There will not be a Lab Report next week.
Calendar Reminder: Winter break begins at 1:05 on Thursday, when we have an early dismissal. Please plan accordingly! We are back on Tuesday, January 3rd at 9:05am =)
In Partnership,
-Mr. McComb
5th Grade Winter Concert
The 5th Grade Chorus performed songs from Italy, Brazil, and the United States. The Orchestra performed 9 pieces, including some truly marvelous talent on the piano. The Lutherville Lab Band rounded out the evening with four pieces of their own.
At Lutherville we pride ourselves on nurturing the whole child and Tuesday's performance was another testament to those efforts.
BCPS Virtual Instruction Days During Inclement Weather
With our first inclement weather event this Thursday, we want to remind families of the update for BCPS with winter weather.
The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) is providing local school systems with the option to repurpose inclement weather days as virtual school days. The BCPS draft plan was presented to the Board of Education on October 11 and then submitted to MSDE for approval. MSDE approved BCPS' plan on November 10.
These virtual instruction days will count towards the minimum required days of instruction under Maryland law. The Virtual Inclement Weather Day Plan applies to the 2022-2023 school year only.
Wednesday Assembly
We also took the opportunity to celebrate the amazing accomplishments during the Read-A-Thon and at each performance, Mr. McComb took a whip cream pie to the face. A small price to pay for over 90,000 minutes of reading and nearly $11,400 dollars fundraised for the PTA!
