MAP/NWEA Testing
Well, the middle of the year testing is behind us (unless your child has been absent). I must tell you how very proud I am of the students. There were some very long and difficult testing sessions, and they hung right in there and showed perseverance beyond belief. A vast number of kiddos showed amazing improvement in all subject areas, and many of them met or exceeded their goal for testing. Now, it's onto ISTEP and IREAD beginning at the end of February and into March.
Math Groups
Most math groups are trying--in spite of weather and one-one-one reading testing-related interruptions--to wrap up our study of money. Going forward, you might expect lots and lots of in-class problem solving with money to prepare those young mathematicians for the rigors of the upcoming test.
2019 Iditarod Teacher on the Trail™ Finalist
It is with great excitement that I share with you that I was recently named a finalist for the 2019 Iditarod Teacher on the Trail™! As you might already know, the Teacher on the Trail™ is a nationwide ambassador for the 1,049-mile sled dog race throughout the state of Alaska during March of each year. He or she follows the mushers and dogs from checkpoint to checkpoint in a bush plane reporting out via the Internet to classrooms all across the globe. It is an exciting opportunity for teachers and students alike.
