The Huffman Commitment

We will work with every student, staff member, and family to develop and maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning community. We are committed to continuously improving our professional practices and take responsibility for the academic, social, and emotional growth of every student. We believe all people can grow in a positive direction.

Principal's Note

Dear Huffman Parents,

This letter and survey is going to families with a K-2 student or a student in a self contained special education program. If you have a K-2 student or student in Extended Resource, please complete the survey below.

To plan and prepare for the return of students in K-2 and self-contained programs on November 16, we are requesting you complete this survey to share your intentions. If you have multiple students in the K-2 range, the survey will prompt and guide you through that process. You will notice the survey initially says there are 46 questions. In reality it is about 10 questions for one student and 6-8 questions for each student thereafter. Please use either the QR Code or the link below to complete this as soon as possible. We will reach out to families next week to check in if the survey hasn't been completed.

We are finalizing our protocols and procedures and as soon as I get the green light, I will publish and share those for you to review. You will also be receiving an invitation from your teacher for you and your child to visit the school and classroom the week before November 16. We want students and parents to have the opportunity to see their classroom learning environment, meet their teacher, and get a feel for school-wide routines and procedures. After the classroom visit, there will be a short tour of the outdoor campus with our specialists, TAs, or office staff who will show students and families the drop off / pick up routines, class line-up spots, playground zones for recess, the bus unloading and loading zone, and tips for families who may walk or bike. There will be detailed guidance, protocols, and information coming on this front and the visits will be scheduled.

I know this may be a difficult decision and that you must weigh many variables. If I can assist or answer questions, please feel free to give me a call in the office on Monday.

Thank you and have a good weekend.

All the best, Chris
