Notes from the teacher
- MARBLE PARTY!!! Our amazing class has worked hard to earn a marble party. This friday, students will be allowed to wear their pajama's to school! We will watch a short movie in the afternoon and I will provide a special treat. Good work Room 205!
- Raz Kids is ready to go! Sorry for the delay. Login information will be in your student's folder on thursday.
- Conferences start soon! This year, fall conferences will replace the fall report card. Students will get winter and spring report cards. I e-mailed a link yesterday for you to sign up for a date/time that works for you! If none of the available times works, or you are unable to sign up online, please let me know! I am committed to finding a time that works for both of us.
We are learning...
I can identfy the sequence of events in a story.
I can identify text and graphic features in non-fiction text.
In reading this we are retelling the beginning, middle and end of a story. Next week, we will look at non-fiction text and identify some of the features like a table of contents, and captions. We will discuss why those features are there!
I can write words with short o, and e.
In phonics we are working on the short o and e sound and reviewing words that have that sound in them like jog, log, hot, and leg, bed, and den.
Math
I can understand how numbers are put together as parts and wholes.
In math we are completing our first unit and will be taking an assessment on numbers and number families next week!
Writing
I can use a writing web to organize details about an animal.
This week we continued our first writing unit! We are researching animals and writing an expository paragraph about them. We will begin with shared writing as students work towards independence!
Science
I can write observations about the life cycle of a plant.
We planted seeds this week! Students will be observing and recording the life cycle of a plant and identifying the parts of a plant.
