OLVCS Updates
Led By the Spirit...............................May 28, 2020
Good evening,
It is hard to believe we are approaching the last week of school. Sometimes when I think back to Spring Break it feels like we have run a marathon, and other days it feels like we are in a sprint.
Please know that the safety of our students, families, faculty and staff are the priority of OLVCS.
A few comments about what has been ongoing, and will take place within the school and campus. The school had been cleaned thoroughly after Spring Break. As teachers and staff return to pack up, gather student material, and close the year, they are following CDC and OSHA guidelines. In addition we have purchased two Halo Disinfection Systems. One for the school and one for the church. More details below. These systems will be used regularly to disinfect all buildings.
Moving forward we will follow recommendations of the state Department Health, the Centers for Disease Control, and the Diocese for a return to school plan. In addition, I have attended Zoom meetings with local districts discussing the roadmap to return, and the diocese has regular administrative meetings for guidance. I am confident that my replacement will have the same level care, concern and guidance, and I will leave detailed notes. Finally, Mr. Terry Stec has been and will be involved every step of the way. His diligence, expertise and thoughtfulness are very helpful in the planning process.
So what will school look like? That is a great question, and one I can assure you that every administrator is planning for, but just can't answer at this moment.
Please be assured that all options will be considered. I just spoke with Fr. Dadey today about the various models that OLV could potentially follow for the 2020-2021 school year. We will plan for in-school instruction, as well as remote learning and possibly even a hybrid. We understand that families have various levels of concern and we want to make accommodations for all, if possible. Before we can make a decision on in-person instruction in the fall, Governor Wolf must permit us to return.
All decisions will be made with the guidance of the diocese, teacher input and even a parental survey.
As I have said to the teachers, we are a faithful people, we believe that God will be with us, guide us and protect us, and as Fr. Dadey says, He will not let us down.
Make it a Great Day! #We'veGotThis

CARES Funding: Please Respond to Keep Funding for Catholic Schools
Gov. Wolf looks to be altering the way in which the Federal CARES money is allocated to PA Schools that is not in favor of Catholic Schools.
Please click on the link below to read more about the Federal CARES funding and urge Gov. Wolf to not divert Federal Cares money away from Catholic Schools.
