YQCA In Person Session - LAST IN PERSON CHANCE
Nebraska 4-H requires all youth enrolled in livestock projects to complete annual quality assurance certification through Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA). YQCA is a national multi-species quality assurance program focused on three core pillars: food safety, animal well-being, and character development.
Southern Plains Extension is holding TWO in person YQCA sessions in Nelson at the Fairgrounds on Wed. June 17 at 10:00 am and 5:30 p.m. Both Nuckolls and Thayer county exhibitors are invited to attend either of these trainings.
If you have completed the training online, the office does not have access to certificates or the online lists, and you MUST email a copy of your certificate to the office.
YQCA must be completed (either in person or online) and certificates must be submitted to your local office by midnight on Thursday, June 18, 2020.
Are you a visual person? Would you like to see screenshots that show how to sign up for YQCA? Here's some links:

COVID-19 Disruptions UPDATE - State Horse Show 2020
Hello all -
We have been working diligently on plans for the 2020 State Horse Show. As you all know, safety of youth and their families is our highest priority. We are prepared and were hopeful that we could offer an in-person opportunity. Continued uncertainty about COVID-19 in Grand Island and whether or not we would get approval from the Health Department coupled with concerns from volunteers and staff and the ability to offer a high quality experience for youth, we have chosen to make the difficult decision to cancel the in-person show for 2020. We appreciate the work of the Horse Advisory Committee, representatives from Fonner Park, and the City of Grand Island for all of their support in this difficult decision.
We have been closely watching other states who are offering virtual animal events. We will offer a Fun Virtual State Horse Show for 2020 so every 4-Her has the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and effort they have put into their horse project. We understand all of your disappointment with this decision and hope this will be a new way to introduce youth to a trend that is increasing in popularity across the industry. More information is available at: https://4h.unl.edu/state-horse-expo
Thanks for all of your ideas and help. We are looking forward to a great event with a new look!
