Preparing for Phase 2
While returning to the building is exciting, it isn't without concern for several in our community. To help inform families of our plans for having students in the building, we share the following:
Instruction
- We will follow a Red/Blue schedule during 50/50. Students with the last name beginning A-K will attend on Red days. Students with the last name beginning L-Z will attend on Blue days.
- Students who are attending virtually for the day should expect to attend a Zoom meeting with their classroom teacher daily from 9:00-9:40, a follow up Zoom meeting in the afternoon with their teacher (as scheduled) for approximately 10 minutes, posted lessons on Canvas for reading, writing, math and related arts, and 2 afternoon open enrichment Zoom meetings with lessons provided by a teacher specialist in the building.
- Students who are attending in-person for the day will follow a school day scheduled for 9:45-3:15.
Safety and Health
- At the current risk level determined by the Health Department, staff and students will wear masks and/or face shields at all times while inside the building.
- Students can remove masks while outside if maintaining an appropriate distance (about 10 feet).
- We will maintain social distancing to the greatest extent possible.
- We will use the provided hand sanitizer stations throughout the building and practice frequent hand washing.
- We will maintain cohorts (classrooms) to the greatest extent possible.
- Classes will play in identified "playground zones" during recess to maintain cohorts.
- We will have one custodian assigned to disinfect high traffic/touch areas throughout the building during the school day.
- Students will eat lunch in the cafeteria and be distanced to the greatest extent possible (typically every other seat at the table).
Additional Considerations
- Each student will be provided a lanyard that will hold his/her school ID. This ID will be used to scan for lunch and library book check out to reduce touch of keypads. The lanyard will also store the student's mask during lunch to prevent masks from being dropped or lost.
We will spend time teaching and reviewing these procedures at school. There are many ways families can support this work before September 8 and after we return:
- Teach your child about when, why and how to safely wear a mask. Review and reinforce this practice.
- Teach your child about how and why we practice social distancing. Review and reinforce this practice.
- Teach your child how and why we carefully and frequently wash hands and/or use hand sanitizer.
- If you choose to send a sack lunch to school for your child, please send a completely disposable lunch. This will prevent contact of lunch boxes.
Harrison Parkway will follow all guidelines and requirements of the Fishers Health Department and the HSE Schools Operational Plan. More specific details about HSE Schools' Operational/Reopening Plan can be found here:

Counselor's Corner
Hi Patriot families!
This year we are focusing on the four zones of regulation with our students.
The first zone we will talk about is the GREEN Zone. In this zone students feel calm, happy, focused, and ready to learn. Obviously, we want our students to be in the green zone most of the time. Even when they may be in another zone, we want them to always go back to green.
To stay in the Green Zone, students can:
Smile
Take Deep Breaths
Be a Friend
Think Happy Thoughts
Focus on Work
Practice Mindfulness
Have a great weekend!

Weekend Snacks
Harrison Parkway is pleased to announce the return of the Snack Attack program for those students in need. This program, supported by the Fishers Youth Assistance Program, is designed to provide students a little extra nourishment for the weekend until they can receive a hot meal at school on Monday.
Here's how the program works. Your student will pick up a small sack of food to be taken home over the weekend. The sack is filled with individually wrapped snacks such as granola bars, fruit cups, pop tarts, peanut butter/crackers, Goldfish crackers, etc. The type of snacks will vary each week. Please let us know if your child has a peanut allergy as he/she will receive a special bag of peanut-free snacks.
There is no cost to you or the school. If you are interested in having your student participate in FYAP's Snack Attack or have questions, please contact Bethany Magill, School Counselor, rmagill@hse.k12.in.us or (317) 915-4210.
Please continue to reach out if you have questions, concerns, or need support!

Library News
Students attending school in person will be checking out books from the library weekly. Please help your child return their books each week on their library day. If your child will be a virtual only learner then they can use HSE Curbside service to borrow books from the library.
HPE Curbside Library Pick Up is moving to Wednesdays from 1:00-2:00. Virtual learners can place up to 4 books on hold anytime before noon on Tuesday for a Wednesday afternoon pick up. You will not need to leave your car for book pick up. Just drive up to Door 1. Someone will be there to take your name/grade level. Then books will be delivered directly to your car. Visit the Media Center Canvas Course from your student dashboard for how to information.
