Unit B Teacher - Kayla Knutson
Hello! This is my second year at Ridgeway as a Unit B teacher! I am from Chicago, Illinois, and I graduated from Culver-Stockton College in 2018 with a degree in Elementary Education. Outside of school, I enjoy playing games, reading, and finding new exciting places to travel to. I also have the best dog ever, Chewie!
Unit B Teacher - Meghan Malloy
My name is Meghan Malloy and this is my 16th year teaching at Ridgeway. Originally from St. Louis, I am an alum of Columbia College and the University of Missouri. Prior to settling into education, I was a veterinary technician and later worked in the horticulture department with the City of Columbia. My husband, Donovan, and I have three children (Kieran, Hannah, and Olivia). Kieran is a senior majoring in Strategic Communication in the Journalism school at Mizzou, Hannah is a senior majoring in Elementary Education at Missouri State, and Olivia is a Junior at Rock Bridge High School. My husband and I split our time between Missouri and Arizona, so during non-teaching times of the year, you can often find us “enjoying” the Arizona summer heat and exploring many of the western states. Outside of school, I love adventure travel, camping and hiking, and making great memories with my family, pets, and friends!
Unit B Teacher - Lori Rice
This is my 23rd year in Unit B! I grew up in Columbia, attended Mizzou, and began my career in 1999! Ridgeway is definitely my home. When I am not at school, I love to spend time with my husband, BJ, and our teenage boys, Evan and Tucker. We also have two of the sweetest pit bull pups named Marco and Odin. My hobbies include drinking too much coffee, hiking in the woods on our new property, and managing day-to-day teacher life with the home-building experience.
Unit B Teacher - Wendi Sirna
Hi Ridgeway Families! This is my 3rd year teaching in Unit B. I completed my student teaching in Unit B, and my son is a Ridgeway alumni. Prior to coming to Ridgeway, I taught Pre-K for a few years while completing my master's degree. Prior to that, I worked as an education project manager in my hometown of Kansas City (go Chiefs!). When I’m not at school, I enjoy spending time with my family—cooking, reading, playing board games and watching movies with a cat or two curled up on my lap.

Unit C
In Science, we are close to wrapping up the unit on Matter. Students tried their hand at alchemy! Ask your scholar about “changing” a steel nail to copper. Better yet, ask them to show you the photos and video they took documenting the process.
Soon, Unit C will say goodbye to Ms. Helen Fletcher as her time for student teaching comes to a close. We thank her for her enthusiasm, hard work, and devotion. We congratulate her on her accomplishments and wish her the very best as she pursues her teaching career.

Happy December Ridgeway Rams! I hope you and your families are doing well! As the Columbia College semester comes to an end, please join me in congratulating our three CC student teachers. Ms. Clausen, Ms. Fletcher, and Ms. McCoy are close to completing their student teaching experience and will graduate in a few weeks ready to step into their future classrooms as certified teachers. Thank you for welcoming them into your child’s classroom and special thanks to our RWE teachers for leading and guiding them along their journey.
Looking forward to the Spring semester, we welcome our EDUC 380 - Diagnostic and Corrective Reading class back to Ridgeway. Columbia College students will meet each week with their instructor, Linda Bozoian, at Ridgeway to study reading remediation and formulate a theoretical base for choosing diagnostic tools.
I hope you get a chance to stop by the Columbia College campus at some point this season to admire the beautiful lights displayed on the buildings!
Kindness Calendar from Mrs. Ryberg
Hello Ridgeway Families, Sending warm wishes your way! In counseling class, we are taking part in a kindness challenge as students are learning that “Kindness is a gift you can give for free”. Both the giver and receiver benefit from the gift of shining their light of kindness to each other. We hope that practicing random acts of kindness and giving kindness that is free will spread like the “domino effect” (a smile, listening to each other, spending time together, helping a friend, giving a compliment, inviting a new friend to play, writing a note of kindness, saying thank you, doing a chore, sharing with a sibling). 😊
