Happy Valentine's Day
1 Corinthians 13:4-8;13
13:4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails. 13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
What is it that we love or hate about Valentine's Day? Is it the gifts, the sentiments or gestures that overwhelm us? Is it a memory or a memento that revisits each year? For me it is a reminder to show love…love to our family and friends, to our coworkers and to our students. Though it should be everyday, this day just makes us stop and give it full attention, be deliberate. In the latter part of this newsletter, I will share a link to the Diane Sawyer 20/20 interview that aired this past Friday, Silence Broken: A Mother's Reckoning. Seventeen years after Columbine, Dylan Klebold's mother gives a tearful account of the pain that can never be healed. Found in his journal after his murderous spree of 13 people, Dylan Klebold noted that he didn't think he would ever be loved. What makes one think they are not worthy of it? I will throw out alarming statistics and tearful moments from his mother that had me in tears as she wishes she would have dug deeper…not let things be passed off as adolescent phases. Sharing this serves twofold…one to expose you to warning signs as parents, teachers and counselors and two, to thank you for building those relationships. Thank you for taking a moment to show compassion, learn their interests, enjoy them…love them. I am surrounded by a group of people who I am so fortunate to have on this journey for the love of children! Thank you for all that you do! Happy Valentine's Day!

They are not to be out in the morning, during transitions or any other time other than when a teacher has requested to have them in class. They are to be up and out of sight unless in the classroom.
I will also touch on inappropriate pictures, social media and other sharing of information on cell phones.

There should be no holes above the knees.
There should be no tights or leggings underneath jeans.
I will allow jeans that have patches because I was not clear to parents on this point. We will change this for next year.

Athletic shorts are not allowed.
Shorts must be at mid thigh when a student sits down.
Leggins, Jeggins or Yoga Pants:
The shirt must come over the back side.
Hats on Friday:
This was done to raise money at Christmas and we should have ceased that. I will take care of that on Tuesday.
