Student of the Month - Benny Calderon
Benny came to GWHS during the second term of his sophomore year low in credits. Last spring during the school closure and over the summer he worked very hard to turn things around and to pass as many classes as he could. In summer school alone he earned 1.75 credits. He feels that the one-on-one attention he received during summer school helped him a lot. He wasn’t sure what else changed for him other than he had a sense that he “wanted to get it done.” Currently, in his senior year, he has 18 credits and is on track to graduate. Keep up the good work!
Santa's Workshop
This year was the first year for the "Hot Item Raffle." There were a number of large items - a microwave, air-fryer, bike and two train sets - that we felt everyone should have a chance at. Any student who wanted one was given a ticket to enter the raffle. Winners were drawn on December 11th. It was a fun event and students were happy with their prizes!
New PM School Teacher - Meet Ms. Kamerath
For the last nine years Ms. Kamerath was the sole ELA teacher at a high school on the Fort Berthold Reservation in North Dakota. In addition to teaching English, she was the school librarian and in charge of the school play. Before that, she taught English in Japan for a year after graduating from BYU. She loves: reading Young Adult fiction; baking pies, cakes, cupcakes; photographing sunrises and sunsets, nature, rainbows and fog; and crocheting hats. We're glad to have you with us, Ms. Kamerath!
