Walkers' Circle - IMPORTANT!

These past couple of weeks the school has received some 'interesting' feedback related to Walkers' Circle. Most of the feedback has centered around families not adhering to the guidelines of Walkers' Circle. This is creating some unsafe situations and also holding up the flow of Walkers' Circle. Please take a moment to review the procedures that are always available for review at the bottom of the weekly newsletter. Over the past couple of years a lot of thought has gone into consideration as to how to create the safest drop-off and pick-up possible. Your assistance and following of the procedures is crucial to ensuring safety and efficiency in our school procedures. Below are some quick reminders of what is expected for Walkers' Circle.

Drop-Off:

  • When dropping off in the Circle your child should be ready to exit the car and walk up the hill. Please be mindful of not holding up traffic and blocking the circle. The majority of families expect that they should be able to drop off their child quickly. Especially with all the snow the Circle is more congested and this makes it difficult for cars to maneuver around those who are blocking the Circle.
  • Again, the majority of families appreciate that the Circle provides them a safe and efficient way to drop their child off in the morning. If you want to watch your child walk up the hill or you want to walk your child up the hill, then please first park your car on the road. Then walk your child to the path to watch them or walk with them up the hill. This way the flow of the Circle can continue and you can still have the opportunity to watch your child walk up the hill.
  • Please remember that the Circle is one-way street. You should not be be entering by the path but rather the other side.

Pick-Up:

  • Children should only be entering vehicles when in the Circle. They should not be walking up the road past the Circle to get in the car. Please be patient and wait until you can get into the Circle to pick-up your child.
  • When picking up in the circle please encourage your child to move as safely and quickly as possible. The goal is to honor the time of all and create to most efficient pick-up as possible at the end of the day.
  • Pull up into the Circle as much as possible. This will allow for additional cars to pull-in behind you.
  • Please do not park right in front of the path where the children come down the hill. This can result in the whole Circle being held up until your child gets to the car. Other cars cannot pass safely and this blocks up the whole Circle.

Please don't be offended if we provide you a friendly reminder about the expectations of the Circle. Your cooperation is much appreciated and goes a very long way and we need to work together to ensure that the procedures are being followed. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Mother/Daughter Night - Help Urgently Needed

Mother/Daughter Night is this Friday, March 15th from 5:30-8:30 and we still have a lot of empty slots on the Help Wanted Sign Up below. It is hard to have a successful event without adequate volunteers. Most slots are an hour to an hour and a half. PTO events are dependent on volunteers and your help is always appreciated.

The theme is "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" and includes a night of pampering for mothers and daughters. Flyers to sign up were sent home last week, but the flyer is attached below in case you misplaced it. Registration slips and payment are due this week.

Chicken BBQ Raffle

Just a reminder of how much we depend on donations to classroom baskets for our Chicken BBQ raffle! The classroom baskets are the "WOW" factor of the whole raffle along with the other fabulous donations we get from businesses and individual family donations. Each classroom has a "theme" for their basket and any donation large or small to help fill the baskets is very much appreciated. Everyone is so busy, so if you don't have time to shop for a physical item related to the theme, you can send cash or a check and the parent basket coordinator for your child's classroom will pool the money brought in and purchase items for the basket. Please consider donating either way, so we have the best classroom baskets ever! Thanks so much for all you do for our school! The raffle is so successful because of the support of our wonderful and generous families.

Maybe your family has something they would love to donate such as a gift card, season tickets to a sporting event or theatrical event. Put together your own family basket highlighting something your family loves to do, or a couple hours of a service you could offer.

No donation is too small or too BIG!! All donations are welcomed, wanted and greatly appreciated. We display as many donations as possible in our front window. Contact PTO Raffle Chair, Kim Edwards at 414-841-8366 if you have a donation to offer.

Day of Awesomeness on March 15th!!

In just a few weeks we are having our "Day of Awesomeness" at Rose Glen! Our students and thei families worked really hard to raise money for our Step It Up Fundraiser! We were able to raise over $32,000!! This means Rose Glen will get 50% of that (about $16,000)!

Now it's time for the kids to party and enjoy the fun day they earned. We are in need of some volunteers to make the day run smoothly. If it's possible to do two shifts for this that would be amazing. We need 12 volunteers for each time slot. Thanks so much for your time!!

Date: 03/15/2019 (Fri.)

Lost and Found

Please take a look at the below items and let us know if you recognize any of them. As many of you are aware, we tend to accumulate A LOT of lost items throughout the year. Each week we will send a picture of lost items for you to claim. If they are not claimed then we will ensure that they go to a donation center in our area. What is most helpful is if you label your child's clothing and school items. We can then easily identify the item and make sure that the lost item is found and hopefully also save you a trip to have to buy another one. Please label items such as jackets, sweatshirts, water bottles, and lunchboxes. As winter approaches please make sure that you label boots, snow pants, hats, and mittens. Black snow pants seem to be a favorite here at Rose Glen and so labeling them will ensure that everyone has their own black snow pants and that if a pair gets lost then we can ensure it gets to the right child. Thank you for your help with this and looking forward to year with minimal lost items :) Please email Cathe Sweet at csweet@waukesha.k12.wi.us if you recognize any of the items.

You are welcome to come to school and look through the Lost and Found for your child's belongings, so you don't have to rely exclusively on our pictures.

Please contact us asap because all items will be donated on Friday, March 15th, 2019.

Safe Arrival Attendance Notification System

This information was sent to all Rose Glen Families on Friday, 9/28 and has been active since October 8th, but we have discovered that some parents are not yet using it, so we are including this information again.

Here are a few tips that will help make your transition to the new system easier.

1) By far the easiest way to interact with the new system is by downloading the app on your phone and signing up for an account.

2) If you are not an app user and prefer to use your computer signup and login at https://go.schoolmessenger.com/

3) The number to report an absence by phone is: 1-866-490-7371. By dialing direct from a phone that is registered with the district, the system should recognize the number you are calling from and be able to quickly identify your children and allow you to confirm their absence.

Snow Makeup Day Information

As of today, our last day of school for the 18-19 school year will be Monday, June 10th instead of Friday, June 7th. Of course, this could possibly change if we experience more snow/cold days that require school to close.

Inclement Weather Guidelines Letter

Since winter is here it is important for parents to be familiar with the School District Weather Guidelines. Please click below to view the letter from our Superintendent of School, Todd Gray.

We are aware that the Safe Arrival System does not allow parents to enter "weather" as a reason for a child's absence, so if that is reason for your child's absence just enter the reason as "other" and call or send an email indicating that the reason is "weather related" and we will make a note in Infinite Campus.
