Innovating Professional Development

Changing the ParaDigm

Introduction: The Challenge

How can schools ensure that the promise that technology holds for student achievement is realized? What factors need to be in place to support the effective use of technology? What resources can school districts use to help them plan for technology that will have a positive impact on student learning outcomes? Instructional Technologists have been trying (and possibly failing) through traditional PD methods to support teachers with classroom technology use. It is time to change the PD paradigm by rethinking the traditional PD model in an environment where our students have now become the thought leaders to create 21st century learning experiences. Out with the technologists and consults, let’s take advantage of the energy and (free) expertise of our students! Learn about our journey and how this inspired a student-led unconference for area educators!
