Communicating across the internet
What is the internet?
The Internet is a global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet protocol suite often called TCP/IP. It is the network of networks connected with billions of services which supports the world wide web and email. The internet is made up of routers, cables, servers and many more this internet is simply the joining of all these aspects. It is the term given to multiple networks connected together. Furthermore it is a wide area network connected directly by fibre optic cables under the ground and through the seas.
I.P address, DNS severs and there use.
An I.P is an abbreviation of an internet protocol used all over the internet. Each individual piece of technology connected to the internet acquires an I.P. The typical I.P is made up of 4 bits, an I.P is used for many reasons. Take for instance each computer, mobile phone and website has their own individual I.P. The need for I.P is very demanding to access the internet every device has to have a specific I.P or this will not be able to surf the web. A DNS server is a special type of computer on the Internet used to support the Domain Name System. As humans do not always have the capacity to memorise every I.P therefore the DNS server is a simple quick accessibility that meet the requirement for human purposes. If the I.P changes, DNS servers can update their data bases while users can continue to use the domain name. Many distributed servers means everyone has access to all the addresses from their local DNS server.
Difference between HTTP and IP
HTTP also referred to as Hypertext Transfer Protocol is the protocol to send data on the world wide web. Whereas IP is the protocol used over the internet furthermore a packet based protocol for delivering across networks.
