Library News
We WISH You a MERRY CHRISTMAS from the SJS Library!
The book fair was a huge success. Congratulations to Colt and Sadie Gores who won the $50 in free books. Congratulations to Congratulations to all the winners who won posters and erasers and pencils and bookmarks. I believe we gave out close to a hundred different prizes. Our next book fair is scheduled for Feb. 3 – 13, 2020. However, you can shop all year long on the Scholastic website and have books shipped to you. Use this website https://www.scholastic.com/bf/saintjohnpublicschool2
When you order books online at Scholastic or buy books at the book fairs, a portion of the proceeds goes to support our school. This is very nice, as this is how we get a majority of the new books we own. So take a minute and check out the website. They do have great sales too.
We are still working on projects. We have the White Elephant Sale coming up on Dec. 11 & 12. We collect gently used items for the elementary students to shop for their families for Christmas. The cost for each item is .25 cents. We do accept item donations for the sale. If you would like to donate, please drop items off at the school office or library. We appreciate your help. Your donation will make someone’s Christmas a little bit better. Thank you.
Reminder – the library has a great number of adult novels – James Patterson, Brad Meltzer, Silva, Macomber, Sparks… just to name a few. We are open for non-school check out every day. But, we will be open on Tuesday, Dec. 10 and Dec. 17, until 7 pm. Please stop in and check out some books for the cold winter ahead! Just a note – Thursdays are good to stop and visit, have a cup a coffee or tea, and browse during the day. There is no cost to check out books. We just need a phone number. And, if you are an early riser, the library is open a little after 7 am.
Almost forgot – stop in the second week of December and see the Christmas tree and decorations made by the students.

Important Information
Bus Changes/Issues:
Bus Changes have become a huge concern! A change that seems simple to an individual family will affect all families on that route. Changes made at the last minutes are stressful to the student involved and cause interruptions to important class time. Please keep your child’s bus route the same as much as possible. If you must make a change, call the school BEFORE 2pm and write in your child’s agenda.
If you are picking up your child at the end of the day, there is no need to call the school you may just arrive at dismissal time and wait for them to come out the doors.
Also, we ask that you do not arrive and ask to excuse your child 5-10 minutes early, this interrupts the end of the day for the teachers and other students. Please just wait until dismissal time.
Dress Warm !
Students go outside for recess unless it is below zero. Please be sure your children have hats gloves, warm coats and boots. They love the fresh air but need to have the proper attire. We do not leave them out too long especially if it is windy. Winter Recess can be so much fun as long as they are dressed for it!
Also, Athletes should be prepared when riding the team bus to out of town games.
After School Events
Please DO NOT send your small Children to Basketball games or Wrestling matches unattended. Students are expected to be watching the games or matches and not roaming the halls!
PIES !
FACS Foods Classes made pies before the Thanksgiving Holiday. Students learned how to make and roll pie crust. Each student was able to take a pie home to share for with their families.
