Dear Families,
Starting on Monday 9/26 we will begin issuing consequences such as loss of privilege or LOP for excessive tardies to class. With loss of privilege students will be unable to participate in school events and/or activities for up to 10 days. If your student/s does reach that point you will be contacted by myself or Mr. Jackson. It is important for students to be out of the halls and be in the appropriate location by the time the bell rings to keep our hallways safe and clear.
Consider attending either the U-46 building tours or the Open house as part of the Unite46 series of community engagement sessions that will develop recommendations to move forward our District’s vision of expanding our preschool program to all elementary schools; shifting our middle school model to include grades 6, 7, and 8.
We need to hear from our communities so that we can accurately gauge the reaction to the options we have shared. To gather appropriate feedback, we need community members who are knowledgeable about the state of schools in U-46.
Building Tours- Saturday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to noon, we will be holding our building tours at Garfield, Hilltop, and Ellis Middle. Taxpayers and U-46 residents can attend by registering at this link.
Open House- Sept. 29 between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., U-46 will hold open houses at Eastview Middle, Glenbrook, Horizon, and Willard elementary schools.
I hope that you have a wonderful weekend!
In Partnership,
Principal Rudden

Explore
Dear U-46 Parents and Guardians,
On October 6th, your 8th grade child will be participating in Explore, which is a career exploration event. Canton 8th grade students will attend the morning session on October 6th.The purpose of this event is for students to be introduced to our Educational Pathways, Magnet Academies, and our Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.
Students are currently preparing for this event by engaging in pre-lessons designed by school counselors. On the day of the event, students will be bussed to the NOW Arena to tour career showcase exhibits provided by local businesses, industries, governmental organizations, and nonprofits. These exhibits will be paired with U-46 programs that can prepare students for these opportunities. U-46 will be providing exhibits showcasing each of our Magnet Academies as well as our CTE Programs.
Parents and guardians are invited to attend the Explore Parent’s Night October 5th from 6-7:30pm. During this event we will provide a presentation on Explore and the U-46 programs that will be highlighted. This Explore night for our parents and families will share additional information to assist you as you engage in high school, college, and career discussions with your child(ren)
On October 5th, we will also open the application for the Magnet Academies. The application will be available online through a link on our Magnet Academy website located here: www.u-46.org/Page/3510. The application will be open through October 31st, 2022. Questions about the Magnet Academies can be sent to magnetacademies@u-46.org. Dates for the Magnet Academy open houses are also available on this website: www.u-46.org/Page/3510.
We are confident that you and your child(ren) will find our U-46 Explore event valuable in planning high school and post-secondary paths.
