News from the Principal's Office
A&M Consolidated High School
Reflections from the week of 2-13-17
Student Appreciation week was remarkable. Our students were so grateful for the goodies we provided last week. To observe the smiles on our students’ faces, to receive hugs and hear, “I feel appreciated” or “thank you,” brought joy to my spirit. If you were deliberate last week in showing our students how much you appreciated them, thank you. Remember we are the example for others to follow, and we cannot underestimate the influence we have on our students.
Our Breakfast of Champions speaker and Consol 2013 graduate, Cierra
Thomas, was inspirational. She shared her experiences as a student at AMCHS, and she encouraged our students to set goals, to have a backup plan, to have a support system, and to be persistent. Furthermore she mentioned, “Be ready to roll with the punches. life will throw things at you, and you must be prepared to be great at it.” Throughout Cierra’s college career, she encountered multiple challenges, specifically overcoming the death of her sister during her first semester of college. However, Cierra had “individual determination,” a committment to her education, and a strong support system. Cierra will graduate with an Accounting degree in May from Prairie View A&M University, attend graduate school in August, and prepare for the CPA exam in 2018.
