Pine Hill Middle School
Library News-Marking Period 2
Big 6 Research Skills
The Pine Hill libraries have started implementing the Big 6 Research Model through some of our content area classes. These research skills are being taught to grades 4-12 and include consistent terminology for current research practices with a strong emphasis on PARCC and Common Core skills. These skills include, but are not limited to: citing textual evidence, synthesizing, and developing stronger research skills (not just Googling questions!). At the middle school, I would like to work with all content areas on this, not just reading/writing classes! Stop by if you'd like to begin collaborating with me on one your in-class research projects!
AR Practice Tests
Did you know your students can take a practice test on any AR book? This might be useful in helping to build confidence for our struggling/low readers. If you'd like them to take a practice test, have them see Mrs. Myers or myself!
Did you know?
On average, the middle school library checks out 785 books a month! That's more than two books per student!
And the reading class with the most library checkouts so far this year is.....
Ms. Hector, room 305! Great job guys-keep checking out those books and meeting those AR requirements!
