History of Broadway
Broadway refers to the performances presented in the 40 professional theatres with 500 or more seats most poplar are Theatre district and Rhe Lincoln center. Broadway theatres are widely considered to represent the highest level of commercial theatre in the usa.

New York did not have a significant theatre presence until about 1750, the first significant theatre company was the Theatre on Nassau street, which held about 280 people at most. Broadway really took off in the early 1900's. However, Broadway theaters were not always located in Manhattan. the history of musicals and New York City date back to around 1750

Tommy Tune
In 1995 tommy Tune made it to Broadway performing in the Musical Baker Street. His first Broadway directing and choreography expeircences were for the original production of the best little whorehouse in Texas in 1978. He has gone on to direct and choreograph eight Broadway musicals. He directed a new musical caklled turn on the century, which premiered at the Goodman theatre in Chicago on September 19, 2008.
Gene Kelly
Best known today for his performances in films such as an American in Paris, Anchors aweigh and singing in the rain gene Kelly was an important person in musical films until they fell out of fashion in the 1950s. His many talents brought him to change Hollywood musical and Gene is known for almost single-handedly making the ballet form wanted by audiences. He changed Broadway forever.
Patti Lupone
Patting began her professional acting career with an acting company in 1972 and made her Broadway entrance in Three sisters. She won the Tone award for best actress in a musical for her role as Eva peron in the original Broadway production of Evita. She played Fantine in the original London cast of Les misrables.
