Background information
The Gupta built many Buddhist and Hindu universities. The schools were primary for male's, however teachers daughters could attend. Hindu universities provided religious training for the upper class. The most famous university was a Buddhist school Nalanda.
Why so important?
The University of Nalanda is the most famous school, consisting of 8 colleges, 3 libraries, a hospital, and a monastery. They studied Buddhist and Hindu philosophy. They also studied logic, grammar, and medicine.
