Fall Happenings

A Season To Let Go

Dear Yogis,

What a ride it has been this year called 2020, and she isn't done with us yet. If you are anything like me, you have felt the many cyclical ups and downs, and ever changing ways of our lives, our energies, our country and world. I know this year has brought me to my knees more times that I can count, and brought me to some tremendous highs that I have been grateful for. This is the ebb and flow of life right? Perhaps this year is no different than others, and it is just that it is felt as a collective, and the energies of what no longer serves us are high, and the smell of change is on the horizons, and maybe, just maybe, the light at the end of the tunnel.

Truth is I have no idea what the world has instore for us as we press forward, but I do know the cyclical changes of the season are as present today as they were a year ago. Tis' the season to release, to let go, and let be. One of the hardest things as humans we struggle with. In yoga we call this, Aparigraha.

Aparigraha, teaches us that what we think belongs to us, in fact does not, and what we wish doesn't belong to us, is sometimes what we need to accept. For example, we think our house is ours, the cars we drive, the clothes we wear, and the "things" we fill our life with. Yet we are reminded that all those things can be taken from us in a moment, in the blink of an eye. Think of all we thought we had in March, that quickly became obsolete over night, showing us, it was never ours to begin with. On the contrary, some of us battle with the demons inside of us, choosing to resist, perhaps the way we are, the experiences we had. Instead of taking them in and accepting them for what they are, in turn letting go of the fight.

That is exactly what Aparigraha is to me, the learning to let go of the fight. The fight to holding on to the experiences, relationships, and things that at in essence do not define us. The fight to hold on to these same things out of fear of letting them go. The fight to hold on, and not trust the Divine with in you, to soar.

This time of year, I always look to the trees to guide me and their wisdom. They know the leaves they bear although beautiful, will break their limbs upon the winters ice and snow. They change in all their beauty, because change is in fact beautiful, and then slowly begin to release and let them go.

Perhaps it is time for you to do the same

In Love & Light

Always,

Dani
