Technological Revolution:
Cellphones
Why was this a need?
It was a need because people needed to communicate in a more efficient way rather than writing letters, messengers and more ways of distant communications. Even now we can communicate through e-mail, texting and a variety of social networking apps.
Where, When and How did it begin?
In 1949 the first car phone was introduced. It was called Mobile Telephone Service (MTS). The beginning of the wireless communication started many years earlier, in 1895, Italian physicist Guglielmo Marconi sent wireless signals a distance of one and half miles. In 1896 Marconi was granted the worlds first for any wireless system. In 1897 he formed The Wireless Telegraph and Signal Company. During that same year he sent wireless signals a distance of twelve miles. He then proved that the curve of the earth did not affect the successful sending of wireless waves. The telegraph later transformed into a cell phone. This originated in St. Louis.
How has it evolved?
It has evolved from a calling communication device, to a calling and texting device, to a device where you can almost do anything-call,text, play games, take pictures, go on the internet and so much more. It is something that was a communication device, but now it has turned our society into something almost unrecognizable. This enables society to isolate itself from one another in many ways. The reception of cell phones have also changed. In the past cell phone reception wasn't very reliable, but now there s very high quality reception. The look of the phone has also changed in many ways.
